Hey Founders!

Just a quick post. I have created a nostr profile to support my Stacker Sports territory. Thus far I have had fairly limited engagement on nostr but have begun to seek out and follow nostr users who talk sports based on various sports related hashtags.

I am hoping by promoting contests I am running on SN on Nostr as well I will bring more attention to both my territory and more broadly SN. For example, here is a note I just posted to promote the UFC 297 contest I am running.

Have any of you tried any sort of marketing or promotion for your territory outside of SN yet? If so, please share ideas, successes, failures, etc.

I see way more hacker news links shared on Nostr than stacker news links, lot of tech bros and web 3’rs on Nostr. I think people think it’s all bitcoin but it’s not those are just the influencer accounts that everyone likes and retweets. No one zaps on Nostr 🤣

We had a person visit from out of town this weekend in the lab, and he was showing me all the Nostr apps on his phone that wouldn’t load.

I don’t think Nostr will take off until they implement a pow system on the social apps. followers, likes and emojis are dead, I hope I’m wrong. The only saving grace is it’s better than twitter, but that’s not enough honestly. More pow apps like sn and fountain will come out.

No news here. You inspired me to give nostr a shot. I basically just posted a link for the ~DogsandCats territory. I will do more soon. That's the territory that needs external marketing the most. I considered joining other forums and marketing there, but I don't want to create ill will or get banned for poaching.

Whilst we got everybody...

Have people come across "the freebie problem"? How have they dealt with it? I see freebie posts from the same user repeatedly. But that user is a high engager in conversation. I want to promote conversation, and if it costs them to post I doubt they'd do so. How do you tackle the freebie issue? Personally I've stopped zapping their posts/comments. If all they're going to do is game the system and hoard sats fair enough but it won't be coming from my pocket. However in the interest of being seen by the rest of my "customers" for lack of a better word to still be responding to everyone's comments, I do still engage with that user (just don't zap). I don't want to turn off freebie posts unless I have to as unfortunately, growth is generated by engagement and cutting off your nose to spite your face... Seems very counter-intuitive.

What's everyone's thoughts?

I noticed this a few months ago and made a comment. I get the point of freebies, I just think there should be a some sort of account limit.

I understand if you drain your wallet, there could be a point where maybe you can’t post any more. Good, I like that aspect, go buy more bitcoin or post something worth zapping.

Agree. It's endlessly frustrating. GR pointed out yesterday that a lost had loads of comments but hardly any zaps. People don't seem to get how SN works just yet. Hopefully they'll work it out sooner rather than later.

If any who are active in this territory sell any team brands, logos, etc merchandise, maybe test a few posts in the specific B2B territory as there might possibly sporting good stores, re-sellers etc who are looking for sources, Just saying

I think you could run promotions. Give me your best friday fun song or whatever theme you want to go for and top voted entry gets 1000 sats for example.

Here in the ~AGORA we do exactly that: @AG0RA reposts any ad-post into the relative nostr profile https://iris.to/ag0ra_sn. It will be nice to automate a bit more that process... if anyone could help to build a bot will be great, maybe @ekzyis?

We are happy to see some reactions but we do not know if we are bringing nostriches to SN or not yet!

I haven’t done any marketing. But, I need to do something. I don’t think I can justify paying another 100,000 sats next month when the territory just isn’t being in even close to that amount.
