I have a different opinion. I check Bitcoin Reddit more than twitter because its where you will find a good inflow of very new users. Bitcoin Twitter is where most of the conversation happens, but Bitcoin Reddit is where you can get a strong feel for new user sentiment.
Stacker news is going to have the least noise for now, because it is an entire platform dedicated to one thing. But it is an echo chamber, or a "safe space".
I also check other subreddits like technology to see what the sentiment is and if I can detect any measurable change.
Checking for sentiment and noting if it has changed or not, or is slowly shifting, helps you determine where the wider conversation among no coiners is leading, and that is important. How can you convert people to Bitcoin without understanding why they dislike it to begin with?
Everyone in Bitcoin would do well to avoid a diet of echo chambers, it only builds a community that is no different from any other echo chamber you may disagree with.

I can confirm that this is a positive experience so far. The UI is clean and easy to use with still some room for improvement to make it feel smooth and intuitive.
Any excuse to use Lightning is good to me, enjoying less spam and less ego posts here than in Twitter.
I believe that some phone screen aspect ratios don't look great and an app instead of browser would be good to see.

That is a hard question. I've been giving it some thought since I posted that comment. I don't think moderation is a good idea and I would rather have the open market dictate the posts that float to the top. I think the current system works for filtering low-effort spam and I would like it to continue that way.
One reason why I dislike reddit is that its structure is conducive in creating echo chambers where the "most popular" opinion for that particular subreddit floats to the top and any dissenting or controversial ones fade into their own small bubbles.
The idea that I'm thinking at the moment is to not let the amount of stacked sats dictate the position of a post in any shape or form and only sort posts by their most recent activity. Clicking that lightning button should just be a form of "Thank you for your contribution to the discussion"-kind of thing and anti-spam. That way, people will not game the system for profit.

Clickbaity links aren't rewarded with sats unless the user decided to tip based only on the link title, which I think is unlikely, simply sorting by tipped amount should filter out all the noise.

In terms of moderation, I think it would be good to do something along the lines of the "Orange Checkmark" in that users post sats to get "Verified" and through that mechanism allowing the community to enforce moderation.
So for instance, you need to post 100,000 Sats to get verified, and if you break the rules of the forum people can report you. If it is found that you did break the rules, you will be docked sats from your verification. The docked fee could then be split amongst the reporter and the platform in order to fund the moderation at the platform level and incentivize reporting at the user level.
This could be implemented for both the posts and the comments and would likely take care of the vast majority of spam.

It makes sense, having to pay sats to post is a decent anti-spam mechanism. One thing I noticed about the reply mechanism is it costs more and more sats to keep posting on the same reply level. I did it once out of excitement, wasn't even trying to spam. Another clever feature.
Even if someone loads up on sats and tries to spam, they're giving away precious sats for nonsense. And SN can always do some kind of moving average based on activity to make malicious behaviour even more costly in terms of BTC.
Very impressed with Stacker News, the email newsletter is one of the few newsletters I get that I actually check out. I was already a Bitcoin supporter but this site really got me on the path of LN and what's possible. Podcasting 2.0 also very cool. In general, kudos and respect to @koob for making something cool, old school, highly performant, etc etc. <3 This site always loads very fast and has never crapped out on me, or had strange UX. <3

Signal is better here, but that's also because this community is small. As communities grow in size, they start to have more noise. This happens on every, single social network. In the beginning the site is great, the community is close knit, and people have an actual sense of community. The word gets out, people want to partake in said community, and as a result the community starts to dissolve. Enjoy it while it lasts!
