Well, this is the first attempt at a little contest. It may eventually evolve into something more. My purpose is to incentivise some good instructional content for this territory.

Here are the top Five Posts Of The Week

The top post is forwarded 50% of the sats earned by this post, along with bragging rights until next week.

I plan to eventually incorporate the best posts into some sort of collection or document, though I don't know what form it will take yet.

Next week the awards will be different, inspired by @supratic 's reply:

Winner- 50%
Second place- 20%
Third - 10%
Fourth - 10%
Fifth - 10%

That's cool! Nice to see mine in 5th position :)

As SN allows it, how is that you decided to split 50% to the 1st only?

It could also be done as:

1st - 30%
2nd - 20%
3rd - 10%
you keep 40% instead of 50%

OR

1st - 21%
2nd - 14%
3rd - 7%
4th - 3.5%
5th - 1.75%
You keep the remaining 52.5%

Or many other ways.. just a suggestion ;)

reply

Good suggestion. I really don't need any sats for the post. I might play with 100% with a sliding scale weighted heavily to the top post. When I get more ambitious with the scope of it ( maybe a newsletter or index) then I'll keep some.

reply

Sensei the sats opportunist appears again! Haha

Can you at least leave 5% sats for yourself? It will make me feel better this way. What’s more, I noticed you lowered the posting fee to help us tide toward this lean period of no Daily Rewards haha

reply

I love that idea! It's exactly the kind of thing that encourages people to share great content.

reply

That's actually a great idea! I'll try to do something similar in the ~AGORA

reply

Congrats on the initiative!

I think it's really valuable for Stackers like me, who are still learning. I also think it's a great way to promote good content.

reply

I hope so. It's a work in progress.

reply

We’re all still learning!

reply

If you can please elaborate, what is your criteria to select the top post? Is it sats zapped, comments or any other?

BTW nice initiative.

reply

Good question. Stacker News has a statistic known as zaprank. That's what I use. It combines # of sats, along with number of stackers who zapped the post, and the trust level of the stackers who zapped the posts, combined with # of comments, etc. I don't know all of the special sauce.

reply

So, evidently it's a list with fair judgement.

reply

Congrats!!

reply

I'm excited to see more action on this territory. I really believe it's going to become one of the premier territories on the site.

reply

I hope so. I'm still thinking it through.

reply

Right on!

reply

Good idea 🔥

reply

I have been doing it as part of the newsletter for over a year now. If you're interested check out a recent newsletter.

reply

Okay.I will check ✔️
