LOL MSM contest is rigged guys... @kr @k00b check this out. How an account with only 5 posts in 2 years, is on the 2nd position, with an estimated earn of 350k sats when barely stacked 438 sats in all these years?

you can get up earlier in the day, you may see it #446556 leaderboard might be resetting each day or something along those lines
reply
I agree! On a related note, the other week on Fun Fact Friday I had the most sats and engagement on my post yet somehow still lost, very confusing 🤔
reply
I think that is something else. The meme contest and fun fact contest are not won by those with the most sats earned, but by the higher number in zaps. zaps not equal sats. In the MSM contest, it is more complicated. than just zaps and amount of sats.
reply
There's a glitch in the matrix 😂😂

LOL and now after 1h I am on 2nd position, practically for doing nothing, just replied to a bunch of posts. But other stackers that should be on a higher position are low down... This is pure madness.

reply
I disagree with his comment that people who just buy and hold bitcoin did not do anything. It takes conviction to buy and hold bitcoin, especially during the bear market. And it takes learning and understanding of bitcoin to build such conviction. The learning and understanding part is the proof of work. To have the conviction to not only hold on to it when there is a 70%-80% crash, but to go and buy even more, requires proof of work. It's not easy to hold on and continue to accumulate through the bear; or maybe we are just batshit crazy.

I agree but I think he's coming from the perspective as a content creator and business owner.
For every 100 courageous new AI startups in the past 2 years, 95% will fail and these super smart founders would have done so much better working for FAANG and investing into NVIDIA.
So I can see his perspective of people of people who make money on money investing/trading vs people out there creating physical businesses which is super super hard.
I think for many of the truly orange pilled believers HODLing took little conviction because the case for BTC is so strong.

Had a very satisfying experience over the weekend.
My oldest son is into music recording. He just bought his first proper recording mic. It is a used Shure SM7B. Worked great the first couple days and then Saturday it just stopped working and was making noise. I tinker with electronics so we took it apart. One of the wires had broken lose of its solder. I told him. We can fix this. And we did. Was a good time with my son and we learned how this microphone is constructed and how to repair them.
Soldering is not a hard skill to learn. It only takes practice. I'm not that great at it because I only do it every so often but I've been able to fix many problems with things I use over the years because I have an iron and the patience to try and fix things. Highly recommend bitcoiners learn a bit of electronics work. Many good resources on YouTube to get started.

Good work. I really appreciate what you're doing.
reply
Sad that you cannot fully edit the old posts to make updates.
reply
You're right. I can see why discussion posts can't be edited after 10 minutes, but not these kinds. A new type post with edit function would be good.
reply
@k00b please add a special type of posts, like educational, guides, lists something like that. So OP can update them anytime if is necessary. It can have an additional cost too for each update, no problem with that.
For example these posts can be pinned in the specific territory and keep them updated. @Radentor is trying to make a good work building some directories, but these will be lost in the history and also not updated.
reply
I tried to articulate this to @ek, but I don't think I explained it well. Also, he told me that they didn't love the idea of creating special use posts.
reply
ok so then we stick with memes...
reply
They could include a new choice, ie, link posts, discussion posts, and index (?) posts in the menu, then remove edit time from index posts.

No big deal for me
reply
Yes, but then each time you make a revision it will be awkward, and it may look like you're just reposting. I have the same problem with my pinned learning resources in bitcoin beginners, so I plan on waiting a few months before posting with all my changes. Easy editing would solve the problem.
reply
you can create a revision chain and pin the new ones. It wouldn't be a bad idea to link the new posts to the old ones.
reply
Yes you could, but I think just adding a third type post would keep things cleaner, without outdated clutter.
reply
Yeah, I think creating a new type of post would be the best way to go.

Have you managed to orange pill family/friends, Mr.Snail?
I have managed 20+ sat stackers, all except for one are in the hope for a fiat exit.
reply
Not really. As you say, most are just looking for a trade back into fiat and don't really "get it".
I'm not quite sure what the hurdle is for most people. I don't think it's a question of technical proficiency or intelligence.
One thing I've noticed with Bitcoin in particular is that it seems to attract an unusually high number of engineers (Saylor, Lyn Alden, Saifedean to name a few). You probably do need some innate systems-thinking skills to appreciate the elegance of Bitcoin's design and identify the flaws of fiat, altcoins, etc.
Politics does play a part, as Bitcoin is innately an anti-state tool. But I think it's more that Bitcoin converts many people towards libertarianism / anarchism. Many anarchists have been at the game for decades and still don't get Bitcoin (see all the silly goldbugs).
reply
"systems-thinking"
True. Understanding fiat banking at a system level one can fairly conclude it is a ticking time bomb.
Agree, most people get repelled when they realize bitcoin is anti-state. Their assumption being Anti-state => Anarchy => Violence and disorder.
P.S. Are you an engineer as well? I am.
reply
Yeah, sorta! My roots are in physics really but I've transitioned to engineering and software over the years.
I have noticed less physicists than engineers in the Bitcoin ecosystem (although I have noticed some on SN!). Both disciplines promote finding simple, elegant solutions to complicated problems and that's basically what Bitcoin is. It really "clicked" for me when I thought of Bitcoin as an economic constant, and how ridiculous any economic system must be without constants / ground truths.
An appreciation of thinking in terms of exponentials / log scales certainly helps too.
reply
"economic constant" Truth!!
First time I heard of bitcoin was coincidentally on the same week as I was researching on password hashing practices for user login info. back in 2010/2011 on a chess website troll room. I got into bitcoin.org and figured it was internet money built similar to torrent and was amused. But it never crossed my mind that it was relevant to me as i was not an online shopper and back then i wasn't even using online banking. Had no clue about central banking scam nor what money actually meant. Poor and naive normie mango.

How do people view Bitcoin in India, generally?
information asymmetry is so absurd in the age of internet. People whom I considered smart, incapable to grock bitcoin.
