An axe.
Is a tool that could help you do a lot of things:
  • cut wood so you could get warm
  • build stuff
  • hammering stuff
  • hunt animals to get food
  • build traps and get food
  • make fire, with a simple stone you can have sparks
  • defend yourself, is a powerful weapon
I have to agree with this, and not just because as a boy, the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen was incredibly formative

I'll bring the beer then

THIS is how you start a new civilization πŸ˜‚

This is getting out of hand πŸ˜‚

you see? My axe is even bringing collaboration, not only provide shelter, food, defense...
reply
But it was a collaboration with disguised interests, I also wanted to be friends with the axe guy πŸ˜‚
reply
not just any axe guy, but an axe guy know what he's doing. πŸ‘€

Looks like you guys have already been to the forest together. πŸ˜‚

Well, now it's all gone to hell in a handbasket πŸ˜‚

LOL this discussion is getting crazy πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ It started quite innocent, but not is getting complicated.

Should last until harvest, then we make a new batch

It doesn't matter. He saw the potential of the axe and he knew that the beers will bring more energy to handle that axe. Beers contain protein. Your books doesn't help me too much, maybe to make the first fire or wipe my ass when I shit. The knowledge about plants is not hard to learn "on the fly" and as I said, it takes TIME, that in such a apocalyptic situation you do not have too much.
What if immediately after you are released in that world, an animal is coming straight to you. What you gonna do? hit the animal with the book in his head?

Imagine that only you and your small community are the only inhabitants of the Earth.
good thinking! It's nice to have Darth within this group of people.
The day before this happened, you are the only one who can choose one object to take with you.
First choice is a knife for me, but if there are people with the axes, then I would like to take a pen with me, so can share and write down all the knowledge while having this adventure. πŸ‘€

From the entire small community, only you could choose an object.
But now I'm curious, would you actually take a pen if someone already had an axe? That sounds like poetry πŸ˜‚
reply
if there is already someone bring an axe, then I can do something else?
but seriously what do you need - drinking water from the mountain, fruits and nuts from the tree, seafood from the sea, got the axe to cut the wood to get warm and cook food, oh wait, maybe better take a copper pot so can make something hot and think πŸ˜‚
reply
copper pot with me so I can make something hot tea
well done ! That pot also could have even more use. LOL I should make a meme:
  • me, Lux and Natalia thriving on a side of the mountain, with the axe, pot and the beers
  • on the other side of the mountain 0xbitcoiner, hungry, no shelter, unhappy, just reading a book and waiting for the plants to grow. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
reply

yes, make hot drinks and even food.
waiting for the meme! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

In exchange for an axe, which could be built, you would let all the knowledge in a book be forgotten forever. You must be trolling because otherwise I don't recognize you, is that you NatΓ‘lia? πŸ˜‚
reply
I was thinking long term πŸ‘€ documenting all the experience for later generations to learn from.
but it seems a copper pot is more practical! what a good thought experiment!
reply
In the beginning, there was no paper or pens. You would have to pass on knowledge by word of mouth. And, not to belittle you because I don't know you, your knowledge must be inferior to what a book has. Or don't you think so?
reply
Even that is inferior, you can learn, just by observing. But until then, you need a tool. Without a tool, you are dead in few days or even eaten by a large animal because you cannot defend yourself. Or @Lux is coming and kill you for the book.
reply
good logic.
I guess to survive and thrive you need tools, food and tribes. πŸ‘€
I see your point, which is the same as Natalia's. Screw the knowledge that would be lost... I get it πŸ˜‚
but I've learn how to make paper:)
And, not to belittle you because I don't know you, your knowledge must be inferior to what a book has. Or don't you think so?
depends on what books we are talking, but I like to learn from doing and quite a fast learner. πŸ‘€
I watched Primitive technology channel on YouTube and he started with axe too
reply
I see that too, and I don't recall seeing it with tools other than his own. But I could be wrong because I don't watch every episode. I've seen him blacksmithing though! cc @DarthCoin
reply
He started with axe, built everything with it and evolved eventually to blacksmithing. He is like a character from Age of Empire video game
reply
I've only ever seen him use a stone ax to cut wood. Can't say I've seen the first videos though.
reply
In most cases he built different houses with different kinds of roofs
