Finally putting myself on all the sites for getting paid for bitcoin.
  1. Bitcoiner freelance is a new one in the space. Not lots of traffic yet though. Trying to be a fiver replacement.
  1. Plebwork is my favorite because it really let's you show all your skills right up front, and doesn't ask for you to dox yourself by putting a CV etc. Really let's you be an anonymous pleb. Trying to be an upwork replacement.
  1. Bitcoin talent co. is very well known in the space. A lot bigger and more traffic. Featured in many podcasts, like TFTC for one.
Also you can just accept bitcoin personally for whatever it is you do or sell (like on a website or in person).
Bug I guess your list is more about finding people who are willing to pay in bitcoin, rather than receiving it.
reply
Absolutely.. I happen to be a teacher, and for getting my writing out there (other than SN) I need some way to get connected to people that need my services.
reply
Did you tried also to promote your profile from these "bitcoin pages" into other places, bilboards, classifieds page where they do not know about bitcoin? Like a subtle "orangepilling", making others to discover these bitcoin jobs page?
reply
Not yet no, and most of them implicitly require doxxing... I'm not reliant on the work to eat, so it's not extremely urgent
reply
Bitcoiner freelance seems good at first sight. What about plebwork? Does it have lots of gigs about non- technical work?
reply
Plebwork I see lots of "plebs" aka people seeking, but I don't see many offers... So I guess the seekers are at the mercy of people coming to the site and stumbling upon them.
reply
Yes, I created an account there and soon realized that it doesn't have may offers and never visited again. If these freelance sites won't have seekers, I am afraid they can't be successful.
reply
I ABSOLUTELY agree. But it's a bit of a chicken and egg thing. My take is, go ahead and put yourself on there anyways. But obviously don't rely on it. But by putting yourself on there you populate it and make it more attractive to seekers who need yours or others services.
reply
You are absolutely right, @Coinsreporter! We are working on inviting more clients to post jobs. We just got started and can do much better.
reply
Thanks for the mention @expatriotic!
Plebwork is 100% self-custodial so plebs get paid directly by clients into their own wallet. Any bitcoin wallet can be linked to your account such as Sparrow, Phoenix or even Trezor.
As stated in some comments below, right now the Plebwork marketplace is very skewed towards plebs/freelancers, so we need much more jobs posted. We are working on this.
reply
btw, you know that also SN have a dedicated territory for jobs, right? https://stacker.news/~jobs
reply
Yes, for posting jobs... I'm not posting a job but trying to accept jobs 🙈
I shouldn't post information about this there should I?
Or do you just mean for people finding gigs to search there
reply
I think you can post also your services in that jobs section, or in agora too.

Much better in the ~AGORA ;)
reply
Huh, what does Agora stand for? I wasn't aware of this part of SN. I'll have to look through there. I can post there for people to hire me for writing/editing/articles/blog posts/copy writing etc?

yes definitely, If you offer a product or service, I'd encourage you to prepare your Ad and post it there. @cryotosensei did something similar #455601
If you want to learn more about the ~AGORA you can read here #363312
If you have any idea of feedback, please let me know.

I still owe you an article haha.
Coming sooooooonnnnnn
reply
true 😆 look forward to it, no rush! it's a topic we are researching and would be interesting to have your and others perspective :)
You never heard the term "agorism"?
reply
I think agoraphobia is fear of going outdoors. But no, I haven't.
reply
Agorism is voluntarysm. A society where people trade p2p in a voluntary manner. No gov involved.
agoraphobia
Is actually the fear of being in public places. And in public places is where people trade. So I think is more fear of trading/exchange value with others. I consider talking also a trade, an exchange of information P2P.
Thanks for sharing these. It is good to see efforts to grow the Bitcoin economy. Are any of these gig-economy apps DAOs? For the Bitcoin economy to grow and potentially explode, entirely new business models will be implemented. If Bitcoin is merely another payment option, then it lacks the gravitas to leapfrog incumbents and will likely remained confined as merely a payment novelty.
Streaming sats based on usage is very interesting. We are seeing this with new podcast platforms. I think it is a matter of time before we see a contender to Netflix where instead of paying a monthly fee, we view content and stream sats to the content creator. Instead of renting or buying a movie, if we watch 5 minutes and decide it's not good, we pay only for that 5 minutes.
New business models will be conceived and implemented that Bitcoin and Layer 2 (LN e.g) enables.
reply
I'm not very optimistic about the DAO model. Sometimes centralization is more efficient. Like running an org. Decentralization is good for our money, not for everything.
reply
I think there might be a use case for a decentralized gig-economy competitor to Fiverr and Upwork specifically. Some benefits:
  • Requires good game theory and well thought out incentives
  • Retain more money for participants. Eliminates rent seekers.
  • Smart contract automation
  • Censorship resistance
  • Enhanced privacy and data ownership
  • Global accessibility and inclusivity
To name a few...

Strike will provide an account and routing number for you to send direct deposits to. I use it and it works great for me.
I work for fiat, but I have a portion of my paycheck going to my Strike account, with which I can immediately purchase bitcoin whenever I want. You could send your entire paycheck to it if you wanted.
I don't remember exactly, but I think you can choose to have the deposit be immediately converted without intervention if you want.
It's still getting paid/denominated in fiat, but it's a great first step since I haven't looked for ways to earn a bitcoin denominated salary. Frankly given the volatility though, there's still obvious difficulties doing that for both parties. But we're on our way :)
reply
I couldn't sign up for Strike having a non-US ip.
But anyway it's kyc-ed and all my bitcoin is non-kyc just the way I like it.
