Thanks @DarthCoin. First I want to make it clear that I don't hate you as much as I love you. You're definitely one of the most intelligent and talented guys, I've ever met on any platforms. But, it hurts me to say that you're self-obssesed of your knowledge and always try to bully others with that. I don't understand why such an intelligent and talented person like you indulge in negligible matters like 'trying to teach someone what they must value and what they must not'. In fact, I believe that whatever you have written, I mean your guides, here or on GitHub are sufficient to illuminate the Bitcoin light in people's lives. But calling someone 'shitcoiner' everywhere isn't going to give you the desired results.
So, I am not here to suggest you. Take it as my PoV and you are not bound to accept any bit of it.
Now, talking about the words 'shitcoin, shitcoiner, and shitcoinery' are not recognised in English. These are not found in any English Dictionary. However we have accepted them in our regular 'Bitcoin related talks', which isn't a bad thing at all. We do this because language is so flexible in accepting any sounds without judging on its value.
However 'Altcoin' is a recognised word in English language. So those who have been using Shitcoin instead of Altcoin are technically wrong. 😂
Language is just a medium of expression and we must accept it as it is. Language isn't a science and we can't stick to some certain principles, like grammar mistakes or vocabulary complications.
On SN, we have people from all around the globe. Everyone isn't a native of English. But that doesn't mean, we shall outclass them on the basis of language barriers. Instead, we must encourage them and let SN become a place open for everyone.
What do you say?

Seriously, I guess I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish here? Language evolves and dictionaries are descriptive, not proscriptive (unless you're in France where they legislate and prevent changes to language). The OED didn't add "Bitcoin" until 2013, but it existed before then, and "shitcoin" is a pretty common term.
I'm pretty sure "is Darth too rude or just blunt" has been debated to death in multiple threads (I'm pretty new, but have come across a few), and given that English isn't his first language either (I think?), I don't know if this approach makes sense here.

You're absolutely right.
First of all I am not trying to establish that using the word 'shitcoin' instead of 'Altcoin' is completely wrong.
Instead, I'm just saying that if someone wants to use the word 'altcoin', what's wrong in it? I don't see it's a harm to anyone. If anyone uses 'shitcoin', there shouldn't be any problem to it as well.
I, personally, use both the words and do not have any special liking or disliking because I see that both the words are suggesting the same narrative.

Ah, okay -- fair point, and I hadn't realized that was the major concern. I'm not bothered by "altcoin" either -- I tend to use "shitcoin" more around here (when in Rome, etc), but it's certainly not a term that bothers me.

What actually bothers me, I don't understand why do someone always try to impose 'the maxi ideology' on newcomers here on SN? Seriously I don't know what are they trying to accomplish? May be that's how they want to remain relevant. Then I wonder, what if someone is already so relevant!

I have been enjoying stacker news very much. I have noticed, that it is primarily bitcoiners which makes sense. I love bitcoiners, but I have a hard time observing them talk down to others. Money and arriving to bitcoin is a journey. I feel we must all do our best to meet people where they are and be accepting of their current view and ideas. We generally do not convince people of things, especially by trying to make them feel small. People need to learn for themselves and that takes time. Maybe it can be effective to get someone to open up by talking down to them and calling them names, but it doesn't work for me t least. I want to see stacker grow! And that means remaining absolutely inviting to everyone. Regardless of where they are on their bitcoin journey.
Thank you for the post.

Thanks for understanding and summarising the whole point.

Thanks for inspiring me to post again. I think this is an important point. I want stacker to be as welcoming as possible.

Yes, 💯 true.

You only said 'stacker' instead of saying it SN or stacker news. Just suppose I make it a point of value and call you a shitcoiner.
Does this really have anything to do with being a shitcoiner or Bitcoiner?
