I derived this distinctive observation about Stackers the other day. I asked about how you guys intend to grow your wealth when you go all in on BTC. On hindsight, I should have made the intent of my question more explicitly. I was probing about your sources of passive income, but I think generally people understood what I was trying to get at.

I must say that I’m surprised at the number of Stackers who replied with working. Now, I don’t necessarily dislike what I’m doing for a living. But it would be nice to retire let’s say 5 years before the mandatory retirement age so that I can spend time to do all those frivolous and bucket-list-worthy things that I have always wanted to do.

Reading how Stackers seem to have little aversion to work piqued my curiosity. Do you like what you are doing enough such that you are willing to exchange your life energy for it? Do you regard your job as your vocation?

I do not hesitate to answer 'yes' to these questions. I enjoy my job a lot.

I turned my hobbies into my job, which in turn allowed me to add more hobbies to do in my free time.

I'm a web developer coming from a game dev enthusiast background.

I really love what I do, being a self-taught also helped me understand why self-interest is the most important aspect to find a job you can truly enjoy.

My only advice to who is aiming for it is: burn your thick books, ask your online course a refund, then open a code editor and actually do something. It might sound stupid, but if you're sincerely interested in learning, you can manage to learn and find the resources you need without draining your wallet.

I never want to do a job that I didn't like it, just for earning some money. Some times I was forced to do such jobs, but I quit after short period. I felt trapped in a cage and the rebel inside me always pushed me out all the time.

Then I found my vocation in IT and finances. Knowing these well, I was able to be the bridge between grumpy IT guys, writing code and building hardware and the squareheads from the finance department that never want to change anything in their routine.

Understanding each side vision, I was able to build solutions that put them both to work together and create wonderful solutions. That gave me more satisfaction in my work and I enjoy it, being an IT consultant for many years.

If you like something to do, then do it with passion and love. Don't listen to your parents saying "you will be an engineer like me..." if you heart is telling you to be an artist. Fuck'em'all do what you like. Otherwise is not work, is just prison, slavery.

And now I dedicate my life to Bitcoin. I write guides, test solutions and help noobs, with all my heart and passion for Bitcoin. I do nothing else (except my citadel). People will call me crazy, lunatic, psychopath, toxic or whatever. I don't fucking care! I will continue my work with Bitcoin until I will die. I will be toxic until there will not remain any shitcoiner in this fucked up world. Nobody can take this passion for Bitcoin from me.

I like teaching enough, but I think the problem with me is that I jump from one interest to another without ever settling. I need to find my obsession, like what @Car recently shared about his friend with me

I recently retired and I feel so much better than when I was working. I worked to feel the satisfaction of my ego. My ego was so important that I would do a lot of studying and working on technique on my own time. I was able to do things no one else could do or even imagine. This has been going on since college, so it's a habit I've had for fifty years. When outsourcing came along it was sold as "now you will be able to do the fun stuff you have been missing out on". I was already doing the fun stuff and that is the part that got outsourced. The last two years of "work" killed my ego. While ego death is a goal of many spiritual practices, it's not fun at all. I feel very free now. The last time I felt this way was in college when the world was still malleable.

I don't dislike what I'm doing nowadays, in fact I'm one of those people who likes to work and keep my mind busy most of the time, knowing that I'm doing something productive most of the day makes my demons be quiet

I am one of those who don't vacation well, I like to be productive, I don't mind what I do for a living, sure I complain now and then but I do it because I like it, and the market rewards me for what I do, I don;t know if my job will be around by the time im 40,50,60 but I am happy to do other jobs as long as I feel i'm getting compensated for the efforts

I'd love to have the option of retirement, its just for the psychological burden to removed from the back of my mind. I see a lot of my family who didn't plan accordingly and now have to be a burden for others and suckle off the state and I don't want to do that

Because the country is made up of a mix of different cultures, British, Portugese and Dutch settlers, nomadic bushmen, malay and Indian slaves and various African tribes, when the borders were drawn it just grouped everyone together and so the country is very multi-cultural and we just sorta had to deal with it.

For example we have 11 official different languages 4 in our national anthem alone lol

I'm unemployed because I don't get paid for my work or I've stopped getting paid voluntarily.

But that doesn't mean I don't work. I'm the owner of a small school. I run a Non-profit organization for environment and sustainability. I write and I do Bitcoining.
