Today, I got a chance with some me time and had done nothing else than to reflect on my Bitcoin learning. For the last two months or so, I had been surrounded with so many thoughts about Bitcoin and its intricacies, all thanks to SN. But, I also feel that my mind has filled with so many ifs and buts.

I know I'm not sure how to react when people form different views about the same thing. I like to be part of such debates but oft I am left with more confusion than solution. So, I thought and decided, how would it be if I reach a consensus and be on one side of the coin rather hanging in the middle.

My journey with SN so far has made me realise that all discussions here reach a consensus. Consensus when you post in favour or disfavour of something. I remember how I posted a comment with 'Vegetarian Superfoods' in reply to 'Animal foods are Real Superfoods'. Stackers reaction to my comment made me realise that even two perspectives can stand together.

So, in order to form a consensus in my mind and reach a conclusion, for this time I humbly ask all stackers -

Why do you Bitcoin?

I've always thought it strange that a group that claims to be about free expression and "live as you please" would enforce consensus on issues so ruthlessly, and yell at any small sign of what they consider "blasphemy". weird.

I want to retire on funds that are not filtered through and controlled by banks and other instituitions. Bitcoin is "fuck you money" in a double sense, not just "enough to not care what others want from you", but also "not stoppable by those who would want to stop you". All the money in the world is useless if some bank bureaucrat can just freeze it.

I like your view. Because if those yelling guys, people who are new like me get so confused. Our judgement is filled with so many thoughts together that we become so lame to even talk about it.

Thanks for the suggestion, 'the double sense' is a real thing with Bitcoin.

yeah. the yelling has a bit of a "bitcoin is mine! there's only 21 million, going fast, and yelling at the new guys maybe turns them off forever, they never return and thus don't go out and buy MY bitcoin!" kind of vibe to it.

'Bitcoin is mine, not yours' has made a long gap between 'the bitcoin guy and a newbie. I think this is forming two poles for bitcoin one with it or the other can never be with it.

I don’t want to have to ask for permission to use my money. I want to be able to use my money when and how I see fit. I don’t want to have to follow anybody else’s rules when it comes to my money. I want to be able to easily audit the supply my money. I don’t want any third party to be able to steal my money by pressing a button or passing a law.

Bitcoin has the potential to save you from all these but you also need to comply with the rules of a nation. It's not somebody's wishful approach that can run a nation.

Can you tell me how many times your money has been stolen by a third party?

Bitcoin has saved me from all these in the past and is actively saving me as we speak. My money has been stolen several times by third parties. PayPal has stolen my money with the press of a button. Men with guns have come to my house and taken my money, and the govt has devalued the currency I was born into using. Thankfully bitcoin saved me from a lot of the downside in these unfortunate situations.

My friends laughed at me when I declared about my decision in April 2022 Got tons of pain and laugh in my face since then. This year everything changed

It changes with the market. Isn't it? People who 'yell Bitcoin only' again and again but then market goes down and tons of people leave, market up- tons of people join. Do Bitcoin needs more time to be so popular that it goes beyond sentimetalism?

Not everyone ready for Bitcoin. People don't recognize it as money yet. As far as Bitcoin will appear in grocery stores as legal tender the more people will stay here forever. IMHO

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but I think bitcoin is inevitable, and I think the community of people who also realize this have a higher signal to noise ratio when it comes to pretty much all thoughts and ideas.
