I think they will soon blame climate change. An ancient fault line has been activated due to stress of melting glaciers.

I am not sure what you heard but that is a known active fault line system actually. Its called the Ramapo fault system (there are 4 different faults within this system). This quake though has been bigger than in the past as the USGS has logged 188 quakes at 2.5 or higher within 250 miles of NYC since 1957. I think esp. after Taiwan people are much more aware of them.
