NAKATOSHI: THE JOINING OF THE NAME SATOSHI NAKAMOTO
Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym used by a presumed single individual or possibly a group of individuals who conceptualized Bitcoin. Nakamoto is credited with authoring the Bitcoin white paper, the document that outlines the proposal for the digital currency, and also with creating and implementing the original Bitcoin software. As part of this process, Nakamoto also devised the revolutionary blockchain technology, a decentralized digital ledger. Nakamoto remained active in the development of Bitcoin until December 2010.
The true identity of Nakamoto is one of the biggest mysteries of the digital world. Much speculation has arisen over the years, with various names being put forward as the creator or creators behind the pseudonym. Curiously, although the name Satoshi Nakamoto sounds Japanese and was initially described as someone living in Japan, most of the suspects identified by the community are software and cryptography experts from the United States or Europe.
