Charts territory is back, under new name and ownership!Charts territory is back, under new name and ownership!

Say hello to ~charts_and_numbers!

I'm feeling a little ambitious and wanted to break some new, or old, ground on SN.

This was a pretty popular territory that I'd like to see around again, thought I'd bring it back and see how it goes.

I thought I'd expand a little to include 'numbers', since I'm a clearly a fan of them.
What I imagine is stuff like Numberphile, numbers throughout history, what certain numbers mean to you, etc.

Post fee:Post fee:

Old: 210 sats

New: 121 sats

'Link' post type is still disabled to keep discussion here on SN, plus discussion posts get more sats anyway ;)
I believe there's a davidw chart showing that somewhere...

Post fee will be 117 sats actually :)
Thank you @quark, I was debating it, but now it just seems so obvious haha!

reply

Good move!

This was one of the most popular territories, before it was abandoned.

reply

I think it was at #14 before I unarchived it, when sorting by top territories -> forever.
I didn't realize that resets, but it makes sense that it does. Let's see if we can get it back to top 15.

reply

I thought @kr had said something about it being one of the most active territories.

reply

Where is @kr? I haven't seen him post in a long time...

reply

He no longer works for SN. I don't know what happened or why he isn't active anymore. Hopefully, he'll return at some point.

reply

Oh ok. None of my business. Yeah, let's see if he returns at some point.

reply
He no longer works for SN

how do you know?

Even though it was one of the most active territories, it wasn't profitable, according to him. He zap the previous day's profits into the posts. I think that was it. In conclusion, the posts were being pumped.

reply

Still, it was very active, including in the comments (which were not being pumped). It may not be immediately profitable, but it might be one of the profitable territories, at some point.

reply
reply

I wonder how much of that was due to his own mini rewards system of paying out to the top stackers.

reply

Probably a lot. I forgot about that.

reply

Now I'm thinking of some of my own I'd like to try out.

reply

Just to correct myself, the territory stats do not reset. Still at #14, maybe I was looking at 'for the day.'

reply

Thank you, exactly what I meant. Now I'm going down a rabbit hole about this number and cyclic numbers lol

reply

I used to binge watch numberfile until I blocked my YouTube feed... I'm tempted to go back down the rabbit hole too, but I'll wait for interesting new videos to be promoted here~~

reply

hello 🤠

reply

I figured you'd be happy about this one!

reply

i love charts and number 🤠

reply

just one number??

reply

there are actually two, zero and one! 😂

reply

Best of luck!

reply

I've adopted the siggy territory naming convention lol. There's something about "__ and __" that seems like it fits perfectly on a wild west sign.

reply

I was ambivalent about it. I hope it works well for you.

reply

It's good that this territory is back!

reply
reply

Great! I had to post one of my articles in ~BooksAndArticles because I found it missing. That article is actually one of my top articles ever. Also, I can see that SN has a great liking for Charts and data representation, so it's a very good move.

Thanks!

reply

Glad to hear it and looking forward to your posts!

reply

Sure! 😄😊😊

reply

Woohoo! Glad this is back, and I like the changed scope.

reply

Cool, thank you!

reply

Nice hack! Two territories for the price of one.

Someone should start one called: "Books_and _Articles_and_Papers_and_Newsletters_and_Journals_and_Pamphlets_and_Religious_Texts_and_Novels_and_Poetry_and_Textbooks_and_Comic_Books"

I have some great material, but I can't post it because there isn't a territory generally-specific enough /s

reply

Save it for my next territory, stuff_and_things

reply

Thanks for bringing it up! Already have a chart on my mind that I want to share

reply

Glad it is back.

reply

Let see indeed

Curious how the post fees get allocated? Only 30 days in here... Does it go to the end of day distributions?

reply

Here's the FAQ about territories.
https://stacker.news/faq#stacker-news-territories

Currently, founders earn half of all post/comment fees, and the other half goes to end-of-day rewards.

Founders also get 5% of zaps in the territory and 50% from boosts in the territory.

reply

Good Luck! It will be a great territory. Thanks for bringing it back!

reply

It's great to see it back, I've been a huge fan of charts.... Thanks!!

reply

Wow, that's beautiful and innovative idea. I think there will be a radical transformation of the content

reply

Great love this! Im a visual person! Good luck!

reply

You a real one!

reply

I reckon so

reply

Nice.
I liked the charts territory
the posting fee could.be 117 like your name ;)

reply

I considered it, and now thinking about it again, it does keep with the numbers theme even better...
