Have you looked into the animal abuses that take place regularly in places like the USA in factory farms? There is a reason they tend to have good security practices and an army of lobbyists. They need to ensure the undercover videos stop getting leaked of how they treat cows, chickens, pigs, etc... They also need the politicians in their back pocket to ensure no regulations can be passed/enforced so they can continue to squeeze out every penny of profit for their shareholders at the expense of the animals.

I liken it to how I see corruption in day to day life when visiting countries in south asia. Local bureaucrats and cops demand bribes regularly. In America, the bribery/corruption is only allowed at the highest levels (lobbying and the 2 tier justice system) so you don't see it daily. Therefore we think there is less corruption in America because its not in your face day to day.

Similarly, animal abuses in some of the places you mentioned may occur on the streets (very unfortunate). In places like America, they happen behind closed doors where the animals (slaves) are unseen until they show up in the supermarket.

Poverty and evil are not direct. Being poorer does not make you more cruel. Although abuse in any of its forms is repugnant and despicable, when it is committed against animals or children it is worse, because they are defenseless creatures.

In general, people who are cruel to animals are even more cruel to other people or they may be very cowardly and abuse those who are less strong.

The worst thing is not that there are tons of cruelty, the worst thing is that the networks are full of these acts and EVEN WORSE IS THAT MANY TIMES THEY HAVE MORE VIEWS THAN ACTS OF KINDNESS. Humanity is becoming denaturalized

I believe in subsistence societies animals are either used as food or they are seen as competing for food. It's simple survival. There is also gratuitous cruelty, maybe fostered by someone's lot in life. The powerless exercising power over a creature lower on the power scale.

Fortunately, there are people working hard to improve the situation for animals, and I hope this trend continues to grow! I firmly believe that education and exposure to new behavior models can make a significant difference. Unfortunately, in places where living conditions are tough, there is often a lack of empathy towards animals. It’s a shame, because every life deserves respect and care.

When we think about the plague epidemic in Europe in the Middle Ages, we can say that the main reason was the mass slaughter of cats. They were slaughtered all over Europe. It is clear that love for animals has nothing to do with nationality. I think the more you read, the more your inner vision develops. Reading develops not only the brain, but also the heart. although giving up meat and abolishing animal slavery is unreasonable for many due to lack of education and responsibility (e.g. what out-of-the-ground growing things are edible and nutritious enough, how to properly train animals, etc.), we can make steps in the correct direction, so that perhaps one day we won't have to kill animals in order to eat well or put them on a leash and in a cage indefinitely.

Many of these places see all manner of animals as food. In part, that's poverty, but in part, it's lack of taboo on the subject.
