I don't care about wealth and possessions.
Sats in cold storage can do zero work to make the world a better place.
Making a difference in the world is far more fulfilling than hoarding wealth.
We don't get to take anything with us when we leave this body.
I would rather see my children and theirs make a life for themselves and learn important life lessons.
Out with citadels, in with community. When energy and ideas flow, community thrives.
Moving and creating is living. I want to live.
Who would want to retire? A man with no purpose is no man at all.
Nothing feels better than giving
What we give, comes back to us 10x

Let us grow from parasites. Let us lift each other up. Let us support community. Let us be rid of greed and instead be giving. Let the energy flow. Let us transmute and heal. Let us grow.

A good life is about love and connection. Hoarding wealth is scarcity mindset which is driven by fear. If we want a brighter future, we must let sats flow. And we are so so so early. So let us just be grateful. Clinging to what is "mine" is fiat mindset. Not needed where we are headed.

I'm closer to you than I am to the isolationist rhetoric of many bitcoiners.

However, I have a few caveats and addendums:

"Hoarding" does enhance purchasing power for everyone else, so it does make the world a better place.
Saving now (while it's easy) for anticipated expenses is prudent.
Financially secure people make for a more stable society.

I do like the perspective, though. A better money will mean more exchange and more preserved value. Both of those things will mean it's easier to acquire what we need in the future than it is in the present.

That's a good point. Bitcoin is so amazing.

This is may be "smart" but also scarce in mindset. I am an abundant fool. For the most part, I live day to day, and I am great with that. There is no reason to think I will not always have my needs met.

People who don't know how they're going to make ends meet tend to behave more rashly than those who's basic needs are taken care of.

Most people aren't as zen about providing for themselves as you. Maybe they should be, but they aren't.

My point is that we might see more kind, caring, cooperative, etc. behavior from these folks once they feel financially secure.

Bitcoin does this whether we hold it or not. If we all knew deep in our hearts the truth of Bitcoin, which is that we will have more later than we have now, there wouldn't be anything to fear. And we could all be a little more zen about being present and giving it all away. For me, I don't have a lot of Bitcoin. But I know about it's truth. So there is no reason to fear the future. My real assets are my skills which are plentiful. I couldn't starve if I tried.

Feel more or less the same way, when I joined SN and Nostr ; I have received some zaps and after many months, I had around 50K satcked then I wanted to learn how to setup a Nostr relay and invested 12K into that, and after that how to setup an Alby Hub lightning node and spent 35K and that was a great way to learn by practice, beside having a relay is helping Nostr, and same for the node. It is an exchange. There is not much growth by just stacking.

Retiring doesnt mean you dont have a purpose. That is only for people that believe their job is their identity. Its important to build a life outside of your work. Not saying that work life isnt important, but you need to invest in yourself.

"Hoarding" is a fiat term invented by politicians to justify taking from everybody, it used to be called savings. Saving hard money makes people free and gives them the power to spend on something meaningful whenever they feel like it instead of holding a melting ice cube. If you buy and live in your house, are you hoarding it?

Love it.

I don't look at stacking sats as hoarding wealth but instead preserving the fruits of your time and energy. I suppose if you were living like the amish do (nothing wrong with that) you could argue the fruits of your time and energy is quite literally the fruit on the table, the table itself, the house you and your friends likely built that surrounds you and thus you don't need a monetary instrument to preserve the fruits of your time and energy.

In modern society most of us don't live this way and rely on trading silly paper (digital now) notes for things we require for sustenance. The problem is those silly paper (digital) notes are highly manipulated and designed to slowly steal the fruits of your time and effort and bitcoin defends against that. A man should defend his most precious assets (time and energy).

Anyways, that's my perspective but I loved your post and take on it.

Have observed two types of people in life in terms of the relationship toward money. One saves and builds wealth- the other spends and have little savings...there are of course people in between too, but most visibly lean one way or the other. I have always been the former but often admired the live for the moment latter approach. But I cannot be the latter- I like to have liquid capital/savings because there are always many things I want to do and liquid capital makes it possible to do many things- creative things. Am not stacking now- I am slowly burning my stack. The stack has enabled me to 'retire' from any need to work for 'money' but i am nevertheless doing more creative and exciting things than ever before. The stack has enabled me to build a home offgrid and two other homes for family members. I am able to plant trees and develop a block of land that was abandoned by previous owners and its is fun and a lifetime dream come true. Do not feel any need to leave wealth to my children (they need to learn to earn and stack their own) but can help them now with support for education and just having time to spend with them and enjoy life with them. Definitely agree spending sats is important but its not easy to do directly- it is frustrating still having to convert to fiat before being able to pay for most things...so the more we support the few businesses who do accept sats the better. So I am a saver who is now hoping to spend most of my stack before I can't. The people who tend to live for the moment have less control over their financial lives than I do, they less often own their own home/land and often are forced to work when they might otherwise not want to. Bitcoin makes savings a rational and rewarding thing to do again - after decades of fiat debasement punishing savings and thrift. Fiat money has made a toxic culture of debt slavery - where many people are enslaved to paying rent on money that is literally created via debt. This makes people dependent and subject to the power of bankers- its lessens peoples self reliance and freedom. It drives a culture of waste, debt and consumption. I dont like it. Use Bitcoin how you want- if you choose not to save you are limiting your future options but then you might enjoy today more- if you are like me and want more control and freedom in the longer term and believe that probably you will still be alive in X number of years, plan for that future while also valuing everyday that leads to it.

Some of those points I can agree with. I disagree mostly that hodling is bad. It is a good thing and one of the main reasons to bitcoins success. The monero and litecoin community like to say that they are spenders. That they use their coins. And I would too if I had a sh$tcoin. You want to spend it as fast as possible.

Bitcoin is the best money we have. It makes perfect sense to save it. I do think you should use a portion of your stack to encourage more retail adoption though. Sending or receiving zaps is fun and it doesn't interfere with your cold storage. You can do both.

Wonderful list of reasons! My reason is simple that I'm otherwise earning fiat so much that I hardly require to hoard more wealth but I'm stacking to diversify. I don't debate whether Bitcoin will be as big as it's hailed. I'm starting to allocate a 20% of my savings into Bitcoin. I'm happy with that.

Go to your local grocery store and tell the clerk (or the manager) the groceries should be 'free' for the purposes of 'community'. See what they say?

We save for the future to be able to consume. If we can't save...

Why work? Why expend effort? Why study? Why get up in the middle of the night (or any time) to pull a 'night shift' (for example) at work if we can't be rewarded with something scarce and desirable to have for future consumption?

Someone else will want that 'thing' in the future which we've earned... for which we can trade for goods and services. The alternative is... ???
