This kind of trades must be OUT of SN, not through SN.
That means: the sats are not sent over a SN zap, but node to node.
CCs indeed are transferred through a zap or sending a DM.
How much CCs do you want?
do you want it as a test for an exchange or you want a better deal in the exchange rate?
I am asking because to get some CCs you just have to send from any external wallet or node to your SN LN address the sats and will be AUTOMATICALLY converted into CCs in your SN balance. That will not be reflected in any SN account movement, is only for you visible. Is like buying yourself some CCs.
I get the point of exchanging sats for CCs when you want a better rate. I don't want to rip you off...

I can send you the CCs also from my SN account but they decided to remove the DMs where I could just send you directly the CCs. SN are so afraid LOL. So the only option is to zap you on a post. But that is not the right way. It will affect many things around, if you know what I mean.
So is clear that SN wants to fuck around with us and keep the monopoly on moving around the CCs. The chickenery is really at high levels.
I don't think they're being deceitful at all. They are just solving a problem they are faced with. In fact, the DM plans they have for the near future would actually help things. Ending the old dm was a coding issue. They will soon release an encrypted dm feature.
Of course they will always be worth less than a sat, but they will have some value because they are accepted as territory rent. It's kind of interesting. I'm sure @k00b and @ek have already figured it out.
I don't think the lowered rent had much to do with cowboy credits. I think it had to do with the fiat price of bitcoin doubling since rent was set, but maybe I'm mistaken.
