For me it's just about territory rent. SN accepts cc's for rent. If I can buy cc's less than 1:1 it's worth it. There might be other reasons I haven't thought of.

Now it makes sense. Then it's a great deal.
reply
Oh, you wanted less than 1:1. I was going to offer more than, but then I realized I don't know how to send you Cowboy Credits, anyway.
reply
Yes. I guess I didn't make that clear. I value sats more than dollars, so I sure as hell value them more than cowboy credits! @ek's post seems to have the ratio about right.
I think you need to detach your wallet to be sure you're sending cc's
reply
I have no balance, though, so I'd then need to buy cowboy credits in order to sell them to you.

I made the post on a lark, just trying to make the point that cowboy credits will have value in the SN "free" market. I think that was the point of @ek' post too: #837469

It’s simple! disable your wallet, and anything you send will be in CCs.
reply
I believe if you do that everything you receive will also be in CCs, right? Just to confirm the understanding and clarify for others as well.
reply
That's right! If your wallet isn't attached, you'll only receive CCs.

You don't need to detach, disable should be enough:

If you disable your wallets, you will send CCs

ek was doing it to prove a point and create a cc’s/sats market. Siggy is doing it because he has to pay territory rent and he values cowboy credits less than sats so he would rather pay in cowboy credits.
reply
As far as I can tell CC are treated exactly the same way as sats are within the SN economy. So if you plan on spending sats, buying CC at a discounted rate allows you to increase your usable funds.
I'm not 100% positive on this but it appears to be the case.

Yeah rn its sending them for people who don't have their wallets set up or if fees are to high. They are great to use to pay to post though or comment!
reply
Honestly, if a market develops, I'll probably buy CC in the future too. Right now it just depends on how many CC enter the system vs leave it before a balance is struck.

You can pay for territories with CCs.

you can also pay for boosts/posts/comments/donations with CCs
reply
Well, if I buy CC now, and sats go up in value. Now I can post for cheaper and earn more sats? An arbitrage play?
