Sometimes I get Sats, sometimes just CC.
Since this morning I only get CC and no sats. Nothing in logs, nothing changed in settings. Why am I not getting sats?
Why does life have to be so difficult?
I thought bitcoin was getting easier to use, not harder.
We both use Coinos actually and I think zaps are failing. Are you receiving CC's only?
reply
If I would be CoinOS admin I would restrict all zaps to / from SN.
reply
I know It would be like a DDoS attack on them. I've attached wallet of Satoshi now.
reply
LOL so now you are out of the frying pan into the fire.... run your fucking LN node if you really want sats.
reply
I can't at this time. Also, it's not for sats—people are not happy when I zap them CCs, so I'm trying this: NWC with Coinos and the LN address of WoS. If it doesn't work, I'll remove everything and live on CCs only. and will only attach a wallet when I can run my own node.
reply
Again my other meme is damn right...
sats are only for the brave and knowledgeable
will only attach a wallet when I can run my own node.
Running a simple private LN node it doesn't require too much hardware... but require some knowledge. read my guides damn it.

I saw it... :) Did you read my recent guide about using Rizful? #816432 For guys like you, without a proper hardware but willing to learn, is the perfect solution, as a temporary solution. And they have FULL support for SN. That way you will learn and test how is to manage your own LN node, without having your own hardware. It is limited in functionalities but enough to start and see how is to run it.
I believe it has to do with the default fee on coinos. If you get zapped under 30 sats or zap under 30 sats it will be CC's.
Hoping @adam_coinos_io can look into.
reply
Oh, thanks for telling! I was wondering the same. Are you still using Coinos?
reply
Yes. I usually zap 40 sats most of the time so it doesn't really affect me and if I get CC's I just zap them to people or donate them to rewards. Rewards will come back as sats.
I do hope it gets sorted and we will be able to zap smaller amounts but this is fine for now.

20 sats seems to be the borderline. Sometimes it zaps as sats and sometimes cc's.
reply
I agree, I was having problems zapping people with Sats. No matter if I went above 20, it still resulted in CC's, and now it's working. I hope it gets sorted out!
reply
I have received an increasing amount of CCs I just can't verify why.

I am also facing this issue; I thought there might be something wrong with my wallet. I have attached WoS let’s check if it works. I zapped you 15 Sats/CC's; could you just zap this comment with only 10 sats so I can confirm?

Your logs show you got 885 sats then 6 sats successfully. Someone sent you 169 sats successfully for this post. It seems to be working fine.
If the people zapping you don't have a sending wallet attached, but have CCs/reward sats, they will send you CCs.
reply
The 885 were the rewards in the morning. All the posts and comments were just giving me CCs.
So, I just got unlucky with the zaps today?

If the people zapping you don't have a sending wallet attached, that would explain that.
reply
So if one doesn't have an attached wallet and no CCs, they can't zap somewhere else without an attached wallet either?
reply
10 sats \ 4 replies \ @k00b 7 Jan
If the sender has no attached wallet, no CCs, and no reward sats, a QR will pop up.
If the receiver has an attached wallet (that doesn't fail to make an invoice), paying the QR will send sats to the receiver's attached wallet.
If the receiver does not have an attached wallet, paying the QR will buy CCs and zap them to the receiver.

No support for bolt12 yet looks like, will it work to withdraw multiple times to a regular lightning address, or will it expire? Also do only those with attached wallets get rewards now?

We have the PR. It'll get merged before too long.
will it work to withdraw multiple times to a regular lightning address, or will it expire
Lightning addresses don't expire unless you mean something else

Oh so what's the need for bolt 12 then?
I think you are overthinking it. Just use your CCs and they will eventually come back as sats.
reply
I really have to do this... blast from the past, my old warnings
reply
Can you tell us your wallet setup?
reply
I use coin os. NWC as outgoing, which works wonderful Lightning address as incoming as seen in the screenshot above

There are many stackers who can explain this better than me, but it is starting to look like CoinOS is perhaps not a great solution. I don't know if it's because the wallet wasn't built for the volume of tiny transactions SN is throwing at it or what. I think stackers are going to have to either find an alternative custodial wallet, or start running their own small node with a channel open to SN.
reply
start running their own small node with a channel open to SN.
This is the way. With Alby it is actually very easy and the zaps are quite reliable.

Do you still have that coinOS channel open? I opened one last night and so far I have a similar experience as you. Two routing transactions with SN, both before rewards payout time. One for around 240k and the other around 20k. I'll keep it open a while and see what happens.
reply
Yes, it's still open. But the capacity to coinos got exhausted quickly, not just by SN. I ended up routing only about 90k sats from SN to coinos, and the rest was from other sources until the channel got exhausted.
I rebalanced the channel but paid about as many fees rebalancing as I made from routing. I then upped my fee rate and so far haven't routed anything at the higher fee rate.
reply
Same here

That would be crazy. Is SN such a big chunk out of the whole Lightning Network that a popular custodial service gets too much load from SN alone? That would be crazy.
Maybe Stackers that aren't ready for their own nodes could at least diversify over more custodial services? Are there any more?
reply
Either way, your idea of diversifying over more custodial services would be useful. Maybe some will perform better than others.
reply
So you're not aware of any other custodial services that offer NWC+wallet connect and ln-address either?

None that are:
  1. free
  2. kyc-free
  3. available in the US
afaik at least
reply
No, but maybe someone else does.

Apart from what I already told you about coinos, I will add something else. All the communication of a coinos with SN account is through NWC. We know that. OK good, NWC works with nostr relays. These nostr relays sometimes can have a lot of activity and could limit the whole number of items passing through, depending on how they are configured.
Also they can limit the access to specific IPs... I had a stupid issue with Rizful node testing. I contacted the admin and he told me they had some limiting access to some IPs so I changed my NWC access to another IP and all worked flawlessly (I was zaping on nostr from a restricted IP and Rizful relay couldn't fw the payment).
btw... primal is restricting heavily to connect to many relays other then theirs... so all your zaps could fail.
So yes shit like this can happen and IS NOT SN fault !

Please Darth stop ruining the magic. Let's just pretend things just work until they don't 🗿 Also, realistically you would need a ton of spam to trigger rate limit with nwc.
reply
Great to know more about the detail. As a complete technical moron I appreciate all the knowledge and insights I can get!
reply
In your specific case I think is nothing wrong with your setup.
And k00b already explain it to you: you receive sats AND CCs depends on how others are sending to you. For example, from me you will get ONLY CCs, because I do not have attached ANY wallet to my SN account. Not for withdraw not for sending.
I am a cowboy credits maxi :) and is nothing wrong with that.
reply
Holy crap, a CC maxi?

PLEASE don't say that. I don't want to see @DarthCoin gloating again. It's really not hard. There are simple solutions. If I can do it, anyone can. You'll learn more about bitcoin in the process.

hahaha I don't have to find you... you reveal yourself. I saved this post anyways for the history of the most blowing mind madness on SN.

The first zaps I received today! But I have changed nothing.
@denlillaapan tried to zap as well before on an older post and he emptied sats and I got CCs...

How about those 92 sats? (Or ~64 you'd receive)
