I was considering trying running a territory for a month and seeing if I liked it. I figured AskSN may be a good idea since it's archived. Any opinions would be appreciated.

To be completely honest, I think a lot of other territories are perfectly fine for posing questions, and they have specific topics defined. I think AskSN is probably too general to work well. Just my honest opinion.
That being said, I think it could be successful if a lot of effort is put into keeping up with it.

Yea I'm not sure if it being general helps because it's a catch all for all the non specific questions, or a hindrance because people may go to specific territories. I'm on here enough that I have time to attempt to drive traffic there, but it's a big unknown. I don't even know where I would put the price to post on it.

Always a good idea to run a test.
reply
I'm not sure if people are even interested in it. I'm definitely considering doing a test run though.
reply
I think it will get some traction but it might be a challenge to break even with it.
Normally I am not a fan of only one month tests but it might be a good idea in this case. Even if you don't break even the first month, you can assess the demand for the territory and if you think it will eventually get to break even.

That's what I'm kind of thinking, but I never know. Obviously someone was running it before and stopped, so 🤷

Yes, it's a good idea. I miss this territory.
reply
I think it's a good place to start. That territory seemed to have decent usage and questions do pretty well for post engagement.
reply
Not sure what I should charge to post there if I get it. I imagine you have to pay around with to find what's optimal.
reply
I am price insensitive, given that I post in ~firesidephilosophy for 400 CCs like a boss. Having said that, the 99 CCs in ~HealthAndFitness felt dirt cheap to me, and I posted there thrice within the last 24 hours

IMHO, YES, we need a lot more territories.
I have a few in mind but we need more users and more fresh sats flowing into the SN ecosystem before I can justify the expense.
Ask SN seems like a good long term value add to the platform.
reply
Yea, i think I'll get a month tomorrow and see how it goes. I'll have to really consider the post price.
reply
I was interested in doing it so was posting them a bit as sometimes you just have a question that you want the community to answer for you so I just use alternative but a territory would be nice
reply
Yea, now I just kind of guess which territory would be the best to post in when I have a question
reply
Yeah but like most I don’t think you will turn a profit with it but would be great to have it
reply
I use it once a week and spam it into other territories. So pls reopen!

Hey, is there a way for me to view archived territories?

#698471 [SELL] StackerNews Archived Territories - Your chance to own a piece of history!
Or also go to /top/territories/forever and keep clicking the more button. You need to access the territory to check if is archived or not. Those ate the bottom are usually archived.

I'm not sure, I just know AskSN was a territory when I first joined for a short while.

Wow! 😮 Thanks

Well, that is interesting....

it happens because archived territories have basically zero visibility. I will not surprise me it will continue happening until something changes in the UX/Ui.
reply
You mentioned it's archived, so maybe there's a way to view it. @k00b, could you let us know how to access archived territories?
reply
Give it a shot, why not right? We’ve have turnover in users and new ones may appreciate it for their questions or to see others
