What are we doing to our children? What are we doing to our children?

I love Remy and most of his parody songs. So here it is for you! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sbhra_AQqGI&ab_channel=ReasonTV

This week at school is wild. On Monday, a boy brutally beat up another boy during class. We had to call the ambulance and the police, and the beaten boy is still in the hospital.

What happened to the kid who did the violence? Basically nothing. He was suspended from class for 5 days.

What will he earn when he comes back to school? Fame! He will be so cool. He brutally made it clear that he is the boss of the school. He is the cool kid who can punish others and get away with it. He has a high social status in school. The kid he beat up has a very low social status. So of course this will raise his status immensely.

He will be a perverted kind of hero to the other kids. Why is that? Because there is a strict no violence policy in the school. Kids cannot do rough and tumble anymore. That is forbidden. So now there is a kid who did it. He went way overboard. But he was rough. He will not be punished as severely as the others thought. So he crossed the line and survived. He was the brave one. Others will follow him and his example.

We have destroyed the education system and now we are destroying the culture of raising children. They cannot figure out who is boss and who is not by playing. They cannot get rough without being put back in the cage of everyone is equal.

We as teachers have destroyed their system and created these monsters trying to break free.

And we have no weapon to stop this kid, because we as teachers have no teeth left to show to our stranger. All we can do is say, "That's not nice of you." There is no real punishment anymore.

Fuck the system we created. Fuck this shit show! I will be rough again, and if I lose my job, so be it. I'm an ethics teacher and I'm going to teach them standards and morals. Even if I have to break some useless shitty government rules that make no sense. Cross my line and you will wish you never did!

At least Remys song is funny...

reply

His songs are always fun.

What did the other kids and the teacher in the class do? Just watch?

reply

Some kids were cheering, some where shocked. The teacher was stopping it as soon as he got aware of the situation.

reply

That's not nice.

He should stop.

reply

Well, he will not.

When such violent incidents happen in Singapore schools, they are sure to make their way to our national newspapers and social media platforms. There will be a public outcry. The students will be counselled. Maybe there will be a public apology and/or private caning. But I think there will still be some hardcore offenders in some schools lol.

What would you do in an ideal world?

reply

That sounds better than our system.

What would I do in an ideal world?

Nothing! I wouldn't have something to do!

Parents would property teach their kids values and manners.

The education system would function in a better way and rough and tumble would be allowed for the kids.
