I don’t like people who do things last minute.
This morning, I had a meeting with the School Staff Developer because I was slated to do a sharing on various AI-enabled features on our nation’s e-learning portal on 30 April. She gave me some feedback, which I accepted graciously.
Then she dropped a bombshell.
Oh I scheduled you to promote the sharing during the Staff Contact Time next Monday, she said.
Excuse me. Isn’t tomorrow Good Friday? Doesn’t this mean that I have to churn out the slides today because I have a full day of teaching next Monday? I groaned inwardly.
Outwardly, I am service excellence exemplified. I nodded nonchalantly and went about rushing the slides. Of course, I could have promoted the sharing without any slides, but I wouldn’t have felt secure enough. So, I just had to Just Do It.
Thank goodness, I work fast and think fast, so I finished the slides in an hour.
I understand that my Staff Developer is probably inundated with work but gggggrrrrrrrrr…..

If you call my company to pick up a dkid from you, and it isn't ready when I get there, you're an asshole. It's insane how many people crack the same stupid joke while they're wasting my time. "At least you're hourly right?" Hurr durr durr
God I hate them all.
We have similar peeves. I get angry when people do last min work because I feel they aren’t respectful of my time!
Getting a call/meeting when an email could have competed the communication

I don't check my emails regularly as I used to, I prefer instant messaging (teams)... either chat or quick call
Some people love face time to flex their ‘contributions’ haha
People not doing their jobs. I once had a boss and a direct report (both whom I was training and holding down large portions of their jobs until they learned them), in the same staff meeting, tell me they weren't learning their jobs because it was easier just to ask me. 🤦🏼♂️

I didn't. They laid me in off and outsourced my higher-level functions. It is how I ended up in Tennessee from California.

Most all of my work is related to Amazon selling, and so I can quite easily say that the bane of my existence is seller support - the most useless, incompetent, and frustrating thing I have ever encountered.
in a sick twist, this is almost a benefit to me, because business owners and sellers get so frustrated with amazon support , they end up seeking out people like me to help.

I hate it when colleagues don't do the minimum research but expect that you will magically fix their problems...
I used to have a colleague, she was a contractor, I trained her for a long while. She was good, understood everything halfway, and whenever she had a question, you could see she had done her homework, and applied all the knowledge that was passed onto her. I loved her (not romantically!) A shame the company did not renew her contract.
My wife is an assistant manager at her company. She needs to review the work of her more junior colleagues - even though they have been at their jobs for 3 years. She is exasperated. Your situation reminds me of hers
my biggest pet peeve are the very general statements of the problem, or no problem statement at all... just dumping the data into my workflow for me to figure out.
i follow the work checklist the same way every time, however a specific problem statement not only speeds up my work, but also significantly improves detection of the problem.
this is why i actually do not mind interruptions by a phone call, because that's a reliable way to ask for THE PROBLEM STATEMENT!
How much time do you typically spend locating the problem statement?
5 seconds to 5 minutes per study, plus the documentation which is variable, likewise a few seconds to a few minutes. dictation software is becoming pretty good, but that also means the expected speed of reading and reporting is higher too.

I mean it's mostly fine, but whoever implemented it at my work screwed up a lot of the permissions, leading to "I can't view this" problems.
