I'm religious. I believe in god and heaven. I don't think these are facts as I cannot empirically prove them. Facts are truths that can be proved empirically, such as the earth orbits the sun or evolution through natural selection. Truths are something I believe to be true. Its a part of who I am and requires some degree of faith. Truths cannot necessarily be proved empirically.
All facts are true, but not all truths are facts.
I think truths are absolute to the people that believe them. Ask a devout Muslim or christian if they think the words in their holy book are true.
I believe there's a difference between facts and truths. Maths or the shape of the earth are facts, whereas religion or beliefs about money are truths. Facts are the same for everyone, whether you believe it of not, whereas truths can be different for different people.
Either way, if you don't "brainwash" your own kids, someone else will. Better to instill your truths or values even if they may be wrong rather than letting someone else do it.
I don't think obesity is voluntary. Nobody chooses to be fat. We live in a world where food scientists engineer foods to be as addictive as possible and make them available at very low prices. Couple that with our evolutionary programming to seek out calories, and you have a recipe for disaster.
I'd recommend starting with Linux Mint. Both my parents and my wife use it with minimal issues, but they dont really use any software and just do everything in the browser.
The switch to Linux is more than just changing operating systems. You will need to be prepared to leave much of the software you're accustomed to behind (I.e. office or Photoshop ), so learning how to use/configure/install/compile new software will usually be a requirement.
That being said, I switched about 6 years ago and is one of the best decisions I ever made. I ditched all proprietary software and now use only Free Software. There's a learning curve involved, but its worth it in the long run.
Yes, carnivore is an extreme ketogenic diet. The term 'keto' generally refers to a low carb diet which can include plants. I did carnivore for 3 months to lode weight. I now do "animal based", which is meat, fruit, dairy and honey (not a keto diet).
You're the one that gets "irked" by other people trying to speak a foreign language, and you feel the need to tell everyone about it. I know several foreign people in London that have adopted a south east accent when they speak English. Is that comedy? Your theory is nonsense, just calling out bs when I see it 😂
This is such a load of shite. I've travelled, lived and worked across the globe extensively. In my experience, locals find it endearing when you spend the time learning their language, especially if you make extra effort with quirks like slang and regional accents. Get off your high horse.
Third world countries like India or Nigeria also have moronic Kafkaesque rules for starting a business. This means many workers end up working for shady unregulated businesses instead.
Focus should be on sensible regulation to ensure workers are not mistreated, are able to keep what they earn and operate in a relatively safe environment.
Minimum wage rules just removes jobs from the economy that are the only jobs that some people are able to do. This is not helpful for poor people with low skills.
Clearly you didn't as you seem to miss the point. Read it in context of your previous reply. Is English your first language?
You need to reread my response. I'm of the position that the formal 'name' you are assigned by the state isn't your actual name. Your real name exists in the collective consciousness of the people that know you, therefore it is more like a thought or a meme.
Not sure I see your point. You already have a formal name assigned to you by the state. This is a part of your identity as a citizen. This is not necessarily the same as the name you are known by.
Your 'real' name Is the name that real people around you know you by. As that is a thought or 'meme' that exists in the collective consciousness of the people that know you, then there is nothing to own.
A name is an idea. It exists in peoples heads. People know my name because they either decided to give me that name (I.e. my parents ) or because someone told them my name . if a name is an idea, or just a thought in peoples heads, can it be property?
I'd say no, its not possible for anyone to own your name, as I don't think thoughts can be property.
Additionally, just because the state enforces us to identify In a certain way, doesn't mean that's our actual name. The name people use to refer to me is totally different from the formal name the state uses to identify me. That's not my name.
No one owns my name.
Are you able to provide an example of another species whereby individuals of that species thrive on radically different diets? I'm personally not aware of another species that demonstrates this behaviour. I believe that people on plant based diets are denying their bodies essential nutrition. Biological evidence seems to indicate that humans should prioritise the consumption of fatty red meat first, whilst consuming limited plants and honey from time to time. Any deviation from this is likely suboptimal. If you are eating a plant based diet, and appear to be thriving, then that's because our baseline is the food pyramid which includes highly processed foods and refined grains, not because of omitting red meat
