The guy makes reforms, then begs for another IMF loan? Is he just a puppet of the bank cartel? People should start distancing themselves from politicians. The idea that they’re in the same boat as us is idiotic. They operate on a different level, with different goals, separate from our everyday reality.
This will just make it much easier to convert fiat to bitcoin without centralized shitcoin exchanges
The governments and regulators only have power over their own created fictional legal entities, called companies. But, they have no control or say over the bitcoin network.
Who cares what governments (a fictional construct) do or say, they don't (and never will) decide anything in Bitcoin land, because it is permissionless and open for ALL.
It’s important to remember that governments, companies, and laws are separate from individuals and private people. Many people believe they have no say in a world controlled by governments and big organizations. However, this is not true. In reality, individuals have much more power and importance than they think. Otherwise they wouldn't have to extract more and more from us. They can only consume what we create.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2TdlwflF9E&t=3052 Whitney Webb is no bitcoiner and has a very basic understaing of it. In one video she called Bitcoin a CIA made trojan horse for CBDCs. Laughable
"You have dug your own grave by pretending they have the authority to control this in the first place"
This is so true. People have lost dignity and self-respect by blindly following what the government says. In reality, governments, borders, laws are all fictional and have no power over individuals. They have no say in what you do or say.
As a public entity or company, you must play by their rules because you signed a contract to be a part of their system. However, as a private individual, you are not bound by these rules.
If the government introduced a breath tax, requiring people to report their daily oxygen intake, would you comply?
Do I need a "money transmitter" licence just to take cash from my wallet and hand it to someone else? This is ridiculous. It’s absurd to think that a simple transaction between people requires a licence. People should stand up against this nonsense. Technically, the network is processing the transactions, not the wallet itself. Consider the bank counter scenario: is the bank teller doing the transmitting, or is it the bank’s system? The answer is obvious.
Idealistic reasons? So you are one of the NGU crowd.
Being tied to a particular ideology or group can blind you to the bigger picture. I’m for whatever works best for the ecosystem as a whole, not just a specific faction or the biggest price.
Principles are great, but if they’re not backed by actions and progress, they’re just empty words. I’m looking at the Bitcoin ecosystem as a whole, and I see a lot of fragmentation and infighting. If we can’t come together and work towards a common goal, then what’s the point of all this?
Does this mean you are using and buying bitcoin (currently) just beacuse it has the highest price in fiat terms?
How would they ban self custody completely? Like they banned torrents? Like they banned privacy - they can't.
Just as torrenting continues despite legal restrictions, and self-custody to self-custody transactions remain outside current government regulations, a complete ban on self-custody would be practically unenforceable. Self-custody is essentially knowledge of specific words arranged in a specific order - you would need to ban code and free speech itself to ban self-custody.
You cannot ban a borderless network that no one controls.
Buy on CEXes if you want, send it to self custody or burner wallet immediately, say it's your own wallet (if asked), send to who ever you want and go on with your business as usual.
The EU is trying to regulate something it does't understand. By categorizing bitcoin and transactions in the same bucket as the traditional banking system, they are essentially banning themselves from it. This is because they have no control over how the system and network operate.
All of this is happening under the guise of MICA, a supposed modern regulatory framework and future of the EU. MICA initially generated a lot of positive hype in the crypto world. However, it turns out to be far from positive.
People who enter politics often fit a certain type: they tend to be spineless and go with the flow. This aspect of their nature is never going to change. Same goes for Bukele. Instead of relying on politicians, people should focus on their own lives and stop waiting for a saviour. It’s more productive to care less about what a public corporation (government) does and take personal responsibility. The more we talk about them the more power they have over all of us.
As far as I understood, the system Strike currently uses for Bill Pay only supports USA-based bank payments. This presents a problem for those in the EU, where we primarily use card payments. As a result, you can’t simply connect to a bank API to manage your payments. Well, you could, with some banks, but the experience is horrible.
This is so true and not a lot of people undestand this. People can't see past the hype. But there is one big example, Tesla started it's self driving program 2013 and they predicted full self driving around 2016, but after 13 years they still haven't achieved anything close to it, even with the massive amounts of data they have.
