Agree... long format posts are a bit painful to read here on SN. One option is to enable the reader view and another one is to improve a bit the styling of the site itself.
Perhaps the approach you propose is the easiest route.
Reddit still dominates a certain type of social media and has a strong network effect. On the other hand, I think it lost a bit of it's essence. Nowadays, I feel a bigger pull from independent communities such as StackerNews and others.
Do you mean Internet companies?
Because on that image I can see a few "tech" companies, just focused on different kinds of technology:

  • Siemens
  • ARM
  • Airbus
