So yes on Alby Hub usage to my own wallet, the problem is using either invoice or QR just doesn't seem to work for me:
I end up having to go with option 3, lightning address, and manually enter in my @getalby.com handle to withdraw sats to my wallet. Not exactly sure why my connected Alby extension isn't handling it well. It works like a charm in other places.
Yoooo I have had... THE craziest week and will continue to have a crazy month as I change cities. I GOT THE JOB (I've been talking about it in the Stacker Saloon).
But as a new stacker here's my responses:
I think I accidentally wandered into SN off of Nostr and love the format here. It reads to me somewhat like bitcoiners reddit, even though that's probably a terrible comparison.
Difficulty getting started is how janky the lightning wallet payout is. For whatever reason, SN is the one place where my Alby connected wallet falls flat on its face. Whenever I want to extract my earned sats to my personal lightning wallet, it's better to just use my @. Don't know if I should point fingers at SN or Alby on that one.
Experience with lightining: enough to do things I care about and not enough to be dangerous. I suspect I'll hover here for quite some time, especially during my move.
On the FAQ... I think I've dabbled :) I wander.
I swear if I do not get a job offer off of the interviews I gave today... then I dunno I'm just washed
If people are desperate and you give them a thing, tell them it's worth "XYZ amount" in a currency unit they understand... is it so crazy that they'd cash out to convert the unknown into the known?
Store of value for now, fam.
I view this as a bit of a stand off. Anyone that got this email is getting a warning to come out with their hands up, otherwise it might get ugly.
I am not innocent here, I never even had the goal of custodial LN until I stood up my Raspiblitz.
Lightning was an afterthought, but an incredibly welcomed addition. If normies are anything like me, and I suspect they are, only those keen to control their transactions end-to-end will find their way.
I can't say with confidence that bitcoin as a means of exchange is looking too bright atm, but as a store of value yeah...never better.
Frankly that's all bitcoin needs right now - to be WORTH it - for everyone on earth to jump onboard. Means of exchange can figure itself out later.
I expect inflation, increased bitcoin price denominated in US dollars, tomfoolery in the fiat system, and continued assertions by my college group chat that I am a silly goose for buying a ponzi scheme (while they continue to drill baby drill into destitution with sports betting).
SOOO WILD I was hyperventilating about this on a call with my boomer parent just now lol
"That's great, or terrible, whatever you like kiddo"
I sat across from two of my lifelong friends (we live in different cities now) sharing a drink for the first time in a long time around August of last year. The conversation was heavy: philosophy, history, morality, existence, etc.
Every time I got the floor I was basically like, "This is all a wonderful but I cannot express to you how critical it is that you buy some bitcoin." Got hit with dumbfounded looks and cries of a ponzi scheme.
Now in the groupchat, all I ever say is "I bought more ponzi" which for a while was met with more hostility. Some of that negativity is starting to turn as it's become clear that, had they just shut up and listened, they'd have already had a massive (perceived) return (on a fiat dollar basis).
