They are under pressure from governments. The financial action task force, the supranational body that sets aml standards, has its sights on hardware wallets. This will be a slow step by step boil but they WILL be pressured into compliance
Looking to further expand btc adoption in my small Caribbean island. Have 7 businesses now accepting lightning, looking to add more!
Lol was going to chime in and say phoenix wallet but looks like that's the consensus here already. Just know that you are still using third party node for transactions . best option is always to run your own node.
Not judging tho as opening and operating channels is a big headache I haven't cracked yet.
Wallet of satoshi is great for newcomers. I am worried about government capture risk however (where are their servers located??) Since they may be required to onboard using kyc when/if that happens. I mean good for them holding out as long as they can, but as they grow they really need to start thinking of their local government stepping in. That's the risk with all custodial wallets.....
Still love the app, now add a non custodial storage option!!
Really easy to do,and saves your bandwidth if you are running a node. More nodes do it, the more we "crowd out" the jpegs! Jpegs should really migrate to bitcoin cash, they would be much happier there.
Ordinals and monkey pics.
And we're not allowed to complain aboitnit because its not " inclusive" of the eth fanbois if you do
The magic money wizard guy spoke at consensus this year about ordinals. I was talking to an ETH fanboi yesterday and I'm not sure someone like that would ever care about financial freedom and censorship resistance. Undecided how web3 folk coming to btc would be good for btc.....
The article is well written. It does assume that all wallets are based in a controlled jurisdiction
Also, if ofac censorship became the norm, I'm sure solutions will be created that make non custodial wallets easier to use.
Muun is horrible, stay away. Can't even send to a lightning address unless an amount is set by the receiver.
90% of cash notes have traces of cocaine on them. Yet people still use the cash. This idea that a btc is "tainted" because it went through a marked wallet is extremely dangerous to the btc ethos of fungibility. It was set mistakenly by big brother and chainalysis themselves and I am very sad to see the industry going along with their little games.
In due time, most btc will have gone through a marked wallet at some point. Let's break this extremely stupid notion now once and for all.
Good technical explanation, I'll defer to those more knowledgeable than I at this point. That was what I heard from the grapevine
Does it make ordinals pay more for their data pushed on the blockchain? They get a reduced fee for their data, which I think is unfair. Transactions should have lowest fees, ordinals should pay premium
