Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.
Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!
We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!
On a long enough timeline, does every debate devolve into name calling and obscene allegations (CSAM, hitler, etc)?
Note to self: The Zeus embedded node is hostile to phone upgrades! It was fun while it lasted but I think it’s time to move on. Trying to stand this embedded node on new iPhone has been extremely frustrating.
A smooth option to migrate to new devices is coming soon... in v0.11 https://github.com/ZeusLN/zeus/issues/1948
btw if you want to test, you can export the channels state from Zeus and together with the node seed, you can import it into Blixt and ALL YOUR CHANNELS will be online. Blixt have this option already.
Wow okay. I already closed my channels and restored from seed. But now I can’t access the node or Wallet it stuck on zeus is starting your node
You still do not pay attention to my posts... here is exactly what I was talking about #1232116 Review your neutrino peers when you start the restore.
I think it’s a bug I adjusted the peers and the LND logs are processing the latest blocks. It’s just the wallet won’t show my on chain balance.
If you think of this bug in LND, could be but is not 100% sure all the time. If the FC was already finished and the funds sweeped into onchain, you can always open that wallet in Sparrow and retrieve the sats from there. Then in Zeus just start a new fresh nodeID with a new seed. https://docs.zeusln.app/for-users/embedded-node/backup-and-recovery#step-2-restore-the-hd-keys-in-the-sparrow-desktop-wallet
Yeah I am thinking of doing that . I closed my channels and deleted the node on my old phone before migrating to the new phone.
Or I’m thinking of restoring and then opening a channel maybe that will stabilize the node.
I’ll take a look
As I was removing a paywall on archiv.is, I noticed they accept Monero donations.
No Bitcoin though, even though coindrop, the platform they use to accept donations, seems to support Bitcoin, too.
I wonder how much of Monero's privacy-preserving properties are actually preserved when using this kind of custodial (?) intermediary...
I assume it's about sender privacy
also, they say they don't process payments, so I think this means it is not custodial
IMO, probably just another example how much easier it is to receive monero than to receive bitcoin via lightning
Makes sense.
Also makes sense. Didn't check the website much.
You know more about this than I do. I remember reading somewhere that supertestnet has strong opinions about this, too, but I'll just have to trust either one of you's expertise.
no you don't. it's quite easy:
you need to be online, open a channel, have inbound liquidity to receive on lightning (and it's still not private by default)
with monero, I could just paste an address in here right now and go offline
supertestnet's arguments are based on what is theoretically possible, but for me, this just proves how hard it is in practice
he's like a Final Destination movie character that prepared everything to cheat death
and then when he almost died, he says: "see? it's very safe, I didn't die."
Yeah, I agree. Theory and practice follow different rules.
People are lazy, so doing proper privacy-preserving lightning is not there (yet?) for regular people.
Case in point about people being lazy: LNURL, although a dirty hack, ends up being so popular because it's easy.

huh, not really but the sqlite driver did throw the error as if that were the case, wtf:

I will shutdown the bot until I can make sure this no longer happens; for example by relying on the SN API to tell me if I already posted.
NO!

I'm getting so impatient. The migrations are a pain so I try to remind myself how nice it'll be.
Is the processing slow or is the design/testing/debugging of how to conform old data to new schema slow?
Testing/debugging is slow. If just the processing were slow, I could busy myself with something else.
For me the worst is when processing to test is slow. Absolute worst is those 20-30 minute process/test cycles. Too short time to actually go do anything useful. Too long to not lose focus.
I know what you mean. It's that too. Testing migrations are time consuming relative to just about anything else

Ha same, my spelling is horrible and the computer auto corrects a lot!

Yesterday, I was enlightening my students about coffee in Southeast Asia, to which a student quipped about bringing me a packet of strawberry coffee.
She did so today. I am touched by how she bothered to remember and executed her intention - particularly when she doesn’t seem the reliable sort to do her homework. I will savor this strawberry coffee.
Another student passed me a nice handwritten note about appreciating my efforts to teach them. What impressed me most was his flawless punctuation. Usually, his punctuation goes haywire when he loses control of his writing. He must have really put in a lot of effort!
I imagine it is quite satisfying for you, this means that those who receive your knowledge feel fortunate, continue like this @cryotosensei
