It really is vital to take the time to grieve your dead dreams, hopes and illusions. Those deaths, while far more abstract than the actual death of a loved one, are no less real. In some sense, even more so, as they are the parts of ourselves we need to say goodbye to, and let go of, in order to properly move on. Quick question: Is there a way to zap cowboy credits instead of SATs? It would also be cool to automatically zap cc's to any accounts without an attached gun, but there probably isn't a demand for it. I'm getting a little sick of all these horses without guns.
you really don't need any of those horse and guns. Just plain CC. Make your life easier.
I think there are a pretty high percentage of newbies for whom Stacker News is their first and only exposure to the lightning network, and to actually transacting with bitcoin.
And is wrong. SN should not be an "onboarding" procedure, but an extension.
Newbies can just read and post as anon until they get started correctly with LN.
Otherwise will be a mess in their head.

I never did either until recently. I mean, I don't mind new stackers who are just getting a feel for SN. What really bugs me are the guys who have been here a while whose motives I'm beginning to question.
You say you’re questioning motives, could you formulate that question?
This certainly doesn't apply to you. My point is that generally speaking, by connecting a receiving wallet you get real sats from stackers who zap you. But, by not connecting a sending wallet you don't zap others real sats. Some of these accounts barely zap at all, meaning they're not even buying cowboy credits.There's no doubt that send wallets take more work to keep attached, as @Car pointed out. If everyone didn't take the time and effort to do that, and we all decided to detach our send wallets, our lives would be easier, but there would be fewer sats circulating on SN. Maybe that is the answer, though, since everyone would just be buying sats to use cowboy credits. I just don't think that's a good direction to head in.
Do you remember when you signed up to SN?
Did you setup a wallet then or did you just use the custodial wallet attached like a lot of us did?
Thats the bar it needs to get back to at some point.
Either that or Non-Custodial Lightning needs to get more frictionless.
Like I said earlier, will get there but it just takes time, we are so early.
If anything this whole thread today motivated me more to setup mine so thanks for that, its just carving out time to do it.

Receiving requires always-on. Sending doesn't. Also, receiving requires inbound liquidity. Sending doesn't.
So, yeah, I don't understand why a sending wallet should be considered more difficult to attach; other than at first there were some bugs regarding permission levels, iirc.
You raise good.points, but I think the send wallet settings are browser based and more susceptible to getting disconnected. I know it will happen to me if I clear my browser cache.
Ah, yeah it's definitely a permissions thing then. As always, security requires inconveniences. I wouldn't mind SN just going back to custodial wallets. We can't get a de minimis exemption to bitcoin transactions soon enough.

its too much friction, k00b already knows this and i believe he should have a solution here pretty soon to account for that
i zap mostly all my cc's or sats then when i am low i load more sats, i honestly do not see what the problem is, what exactly is the complaint

Because thats what I was required to do when SN flipped over. Couldn't stay custodial.
Darth always complains about Stacker News, he's been doing it since its inception. This is nothing new. He once rage quitted then he came back once things evolved, because thats what products do...evolve.
Its iteration, SN was born in 2021 it was a different time in Lightning.

I don't agree that it's waste of an effort. It might bring in new users, possibly making things like posting easier on SN. But SN needs to handle it with care in future, it'll be one or the other way. Either SN will be an updated version of reddit with CCs or it'll be SN with Sats. Only one will survive or SN will remain sidelined.
Why I said so, because I believe most platforms are gonna integrate some for of tipping, many already have. YouTube has it by way of subscription, twitter has it. People are smart. Bitcoiners are smarter. They want to earn...earn in whatever ways. If their belief is in Bitcoin, they can turn their money into Bitcoin by buying it with less capable forms of money. Can't they?
What I mean is it's best we here at SN remain the torchbearers for a true Bitcoin circulation. Most of the other places I see the propoganda like 'we accept Bitcoin' — hidden truth 'its automatically converted to filthy Fiat upon reciept.

The complain is for those who don't attach their wallets while hoarding sats from us. Many with the horse are getting sats directly into their wallets but not zapping in return — not even in CCs.

Yeah, no complains for you. You do and forever want good things for SN, just joked because I saw you don't have the gun, got surprised. I just can't/don't want to take the names of many of those who will come crashing hard at me. There are many, you know who intentionally don't want to attach and don't zap in real sats but are happy to recieve sats directly to their wallets — the hypocrites, the sats hoarder or in their own words they are assmilkers.

You know why I zap 21 because most of the times less than 21 sats zap turn into CCs for the receiver.
And knowing this, I wanted to question the creator of CCs, but ...but, noone can.
Another is @denlillaapan, btw - the one who here recieves max sats from all of us, no doubt he's very much talented and knows how to play with word, phrases and sentences, he edited some big Bitcoin books.
But .... But .... All of what he posts here are mere links from MSM with his own commentry (his own view point)... No disrespect to him but 'not holding gun' certainly makes him a Sats hoarder if nothing else. ;)

While I'm in complaining mode, now if you hide your cowboy hat status you automatically hide your attached wallet status. That makes it easier for assmilkers to hide.
But are they assmilkers if SN allows this to happen? If they pay CCs to post and they are able to receive sat zaps then it make sense people would do this on mass. Especially those who are looking more to extract than to contribute.
It’s clear SN celebrates stackers more than zappers the way the incentives are celebrated.

I get one maybe once every two years, forgetting that they always die when in my possession. I’m also fascinated by them, but my experience personally is that they’re hard to keep alive.
I have probably been responsible for the death of at least 20 of these during my lifetime. I've killed a few bonsai trees too.
