Lately I was thinking about a "Call to action" movement for all bitcoiners that want to be involved in building circular economies.
And a simple example to start would be Steak & Shake.
How to make a real Bitcoin burger, prepared only with ingredients paid with Bitcoin.
Start small, with one product and promote it as special.
What if stackers like @siggy47 (see his latest visit to Steak & Shake here #1509675) would do the following:
For example the new podcast by @oshigood and @permanerd could launch a new method for their podcast (similar to what is doing @plebpoet with the SNzine). Listeners that want to promote a merchant, product, service etc, could pay x amount of sats for a promotion during the podcast. x sats per x amount of minutes, or a simply 2k sats for a mention of a webpage or service. Make paid simple classifieds.
People that love a product/service will help also that small merchant to be known.
Stake & Shake should not use that "give back sats" but instead use the discount method ONLY for those paying with sats. To make visible the advantage to the nocoiners.
@oshigood , @permanerd and @AGORA maybe you will make a special episode with your podcasts,, where you invite 2-3 merchants, producers that could collaborate each others, like you did Oshi with BitcoinBeans. Your example is the perfect one to follow, how a small producer could use ingredients paid with sats too.
Find solutions, products, rails, discuss collaboration, create the real BCE (Bitcoin Circular Economies) where (almost) everything is paid with sats. Let the producers speak loud about their struggle to start with Bitcoin and help them with solutions. Discuss about processes, apps, which one fits better for their business (not every bitcoin fits perfectly). Involve consumers into this discussion also, they are the main promoters of the final product in the end.
Reminder this short workshop about circular economies
IF WE DO NOT START THESE CIRCULAR ECONOMIES... THEN IS ALL FOR NOTHING.
This is an excellent idea! I'll look for Oshi podcast, I did not know about it.
edit: Found it, here is the link to YATA for others to listen to https://www.oshigood.us/podcast
This is just a simple idea that came to my mind walking those 8km to my mountain cabin :)
From here we can expand it in so many ways!
Just think how could be if we help each of these merchants that start small accepting bitcoin to also pay their suppliers with sats. Slowly they can even start paying employees in sats.
Separating from fiat system is hard, I know it because for years I was preparing myself. And the key point was not where to spend it, but how to earn it. For a merchant is the way around: earning is much easier, but then they have to have also where to pay,, especially suppliers.
Howdy, stackers! Forgot the
𝕏tweet link! Share the biz https://x.com/AGORA_SN/status/2069325049824223565For this edition I'd to bring up a common topic that has been LIT a few times this week:
Two topics I think are worth discussing this week:
1. Square just crossed 1M merchants auto-enabled for Bitcoin Lightning
With a new business activating every 8 seconds. But many merchants don't even know the feature is on their terminal, and cashiers can't find the option, and that's why they strategically opted to pass the ball in the other side and expose Bitcoin toggle to customers - @jasonb continues with his Square Terminal Trainwreck - Back on Track! (and other tortured metaphors). And have you seen this Square Bitcoin savings calculator for merchant onboarding? Pretty cool educational stuff! And this Italian Butcher offering a 50% discount when paying in BTC? So many new businesses...
For you stackers who already accept Bitcoin directly: is this validation of the path forward, or does Square's walled-garden approach (auto-convert to USD) undermine the circular economy we're trying to build?
2. Several SN members are running Bitcoin-only stores:
@oshigood recently shared a great Q&A on running a 100% Bitcoin/Nostr business (#1505000), handling volatility via real-time BTCpay pricing, and cycling sats back into the community. @Palameraaa documenting her Journey to Health through bitcoin-only products and don't miss @satwize's Growing Stock Of Bitcoin Books
Would love to hear from other bitcoin/nostr sellers: are you planning to adapt your setup as more merchants come online? Any lessons learned for newcomers wanting to accept Bitcoin directly?
