I see that Nutminer thingy for CashU.
That made me think about a paint point with SN.
SN provides a few free comments and posts for new users.
But there's no way for someone who is not a new user, and who has no sats, to be able to post or comment.
Would there be a way to do a Nutminer type thing, but for earning more of those "free comments / free posts"? If that were general (i.e., for earning sats), the difficulty would rise high as there would be competition from the general public trying to earn sats.
But when the "earnings" is only free comments and free posts on SN, well then difficulty would be lower and it would be more easily obtained. But that still requires work to be performed, and thus adding this likely will not create a spam/spammer issue.
The problem I'm trying to solve is where a person wants to post, or comment, and finds they don't have enough sats. And they don't have any easy way to acquire them. So rather than seeing them close their browser tab in frustration, they can instead go and "mine" a "free comment".
Wow, that sounds really interesting.
We were already thinking about how to open up SN to more users without requiring an account. For example, this ticket is about allowing users without accounts to zap people on SN.
What do you think @k00b, @kr? I haven't thought much about how feasible to implement something like this would be but the first iteration could just require finding the right preimage for a specific hash without any difficulty adjustment.
To incentivize people to still spend sats (instead of "wasting their time"), any tips for these "mined posts" could go straight to SN / reward pool (or something completely different).

Now that subs are more widely support, perhaps a sub for that, ~free.
Where posts and comments are free. Not sure now a person could post "without requiring an account" , but it could be where a person could post something, get tipped, and then have funds to post (or re-post the same content) to ~bitcoin (or ~nostr, or any other ~sub).
It wouldn't even need to be a sub that appears in the list of subs, ... but something that a person would see when they go to post or comment and the error message offers that the post or comment can be added to the ~free sub instead.

i don't like the idea of adding a free substack.

it could be even simpler! there will be a pool of rewards! from there you can take a free post or comment, giving up 10 seconds of time) idea?

I agree with the problem. I don’t think the solution is mining but it’s not a bad solution.
Free posts/comments were an attempt to solve this but I think it’s executed in a mediocre way. We probably shouldn’t “remove them” and only show them optin greeters. Instead the content should probably just not be shown by default and anyone can click to reveal.
~free is an interesting idea too

they could make a free twitter post asking bitcoiners to donate a few sats to the stacker news wallet. if they don't have "enough" sats to post or comment...what have they been doing??

It's simple. let it add 1 additional comment to the lightning when someone has rewarded you)) is not difficult and useful)))) will be consumed in turn.

I think this is how it already works. Your free comments can get tipped and then you basically earn more "free comments" because comments cost 1 sat

I've been waiting for 1000000 hours for someone to click on me... But it did not work! And it was necessary to answer urgently)))

I've told you before, I think most people don't understand what you are trying to say and thus just ignore you haha
I would love to understand your comments more but it's not easy unfortunately.
