“We have introduced our platform pricing. Zaprite will offer a monthly plan for USD$25, or an annual plan for USD$240—which is a 20% discount over monthly payments.”
$25 a month to accept Bitcoin payments? I appreciate the team working on this but bitcoin is supposed to make things better and cheaper right? Business margins are already tight hopefully they can bring this price point down or charge per transaction.
reply
Bitcoin has made things better and cheaper. We're not charging $25 p/month just to accept bitcoin payments. You can do that for 'free' with BTCPayServer or a host of other tools. We're charging for access to our platform, and the suite of tools we've built to make accepting bitcoin payments easier as a business owner. It's hard to get pricing that works for everyone, but we have to start somewhere. And we will take onboard feedback like yours and adapt and add more tiers as we grow.
reply
$25 is 1% of $2500, so if anyone is billing more than $2500/mo this is a pretty good deal.
I think ideally they'd default to taking 1% (or even more) to attract plebs but when you begin to cross $2500 of invoicing for the month, recommend the $25/month option.
The other thing to consider is that it's not possible to split payments noncustodially in a single QR.
I'd guess they'll add more tiers eventually.
reply
Yeah this makes sense. But I don’t think the 1% per transaction is offered yet.
With $2500 in sales who is the target market for this SasS? Hardcore BTC businesses getting $2500 in BTC revenues probably won’t use this.
And current businesses who don’t really care to accept BTC will probably just use open node. This is exactly what niftynei did to charge for her base58 course. Even she didn’t bother with BTC pay server
To charge $25 a month seems very expensive to accept Bitcoin payments easily.
I think zaprite should think about what made square so successful with allowing small business to accept credit cards on the street very easy. If square had this monthly flat fee for their services they would not be as successful as they are today.
reply
Yes, splitting on-chain payments in a single QR is not possible. Besides, we think the SaaS model is a more value-for-value approach.

@k00b and @Rsync25 Last week, Rsync posted a poll about various BIPs, but with no details. I totally agree with his poll but as I said, many SN users have no clue what are all these BIPs. (#232293)
I propose a massive AMA on SN with many Bitcoin/ LN developers, coders, programmers, contributors to Bitcoin code and other apps, that knows in details all the aspects of these BIPs (drivechains, CTV etc).
Let's have a better explanation of ALL aspects related with these BIPs, how they work, how they apply, pro and contra (sincere explanations), what could happen if they are applied or not.
But all in layman vocabulary so all types of users could understand what is going on. Technicalities are more for discussions on Bitcoin dev email newsletter and/or BitcoinTalk forum.
I know there are many Bitcoin devs here but usually they are quiet and say not too much.
People need to know better what is going on and understand clearly all the aspects, not just useless fights on twitter/nostr. I myself I am in a position that I cannot say too much and I will never take baseless sides, just because somebody I know is on a specific side. Tribalism is not healthy for Bitcoin.
I didn't want to start from my account this discussion, it should be started from a SN account, pinned, as a main AMA and if devs will post good answers they should take the rewards/zaps, not me.
Please organize this massive AMA and also invite more Bitcoin devs to join it.

@kr has been interested in doing "group discussions." For example: we invite drivechain proponents to debate with opponents.
@weareallsatoshi's work on splits lays the ground work for this. All that's needed is auto-subscribing people involved in the splits.
reply
This sounds excellent, I would love to see something like this.
reply
We might also want to expose this through a new "post type" which is mostly a UI/UX wrapper around forwards.
reply
Goode idea! I'm interested in putting this AMA together!

Is it possible to rotate out nostr keys while maintaining your profile etc?
reply
New key = new profile at this time.
I can’t wait for the logic of LnPass to make it mainstream. Where one master public/private key path can chunk-up parts of your identity into child pairs. And layers beyond.
The experience on Alby for example on a new site should be to “do you want to create a new key?” rather than using the same one over and over. A key for social, for finances, for health, for moon memes, for family photos. Or every web domain known. Otherwise we’re creating a honeypot of npubs.
reply
Social layer like Nostr is different to Bitcoin I guess. With Bitcoin if you think your keys are compromised / may have been exposed you can just sweep them to a new wallet.
I don't know how it could work, but it is almost like I want to be able to "sign a transaction" with the old keys that references the new keys and from then on the new keys are the ones that are valid etc. Even if old keys are then compromised they don't have the authority to sign etc

For merging / transferring an old nostr key into a new one while maintaining identity.
reply
No there's no consensus on how to do this yet. You just have to encourage people to follow your new key.
