Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.
Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!

How much should I boost?

not necessary to boost, just make it so GREAT that we can't ignore it ⚡️

That moment when you look into your code because you think there is a bug in there since it didn't return what you expected.
But then it turns out, it did exactly what it's supposed to do, my expectation was wrong, lol
best moments as a programmer
details
implemented prediction market settlement and was confused why a user received so many sats since i checked their winning share amount before settlement and it was quite low.
turns out that user had a lot of pending sell orders and shares are immediately deducted from user balances if sold to prevent double-spends. these pending sell orders then got canceled due to the market settling down (= trading halted); increasing the user balance for this share again and these shares turned out to be winning shares, lol
edit: nvm, i think there is indeed a bug 👀🤔

I think the mind of programmers can be funny and fascinating 🧐

Is anyone else a little bit concerned by the outsized dependency we have on Alby?
Both from a lightning perspective but also Nostr now too, webLN should see to it that we have more options out there. Or have I just not found them yet?
reply
273 sats \ 1 reply \ @k00b 3 Dec 2023
I'm not concerned about Alby specifically.
I am concerned we only have a collection of rope bridges between lightning apps and non-custodial wallets. NWC/WebLN/lightning addresses are better than nothing but we need something 10x better IMO.
reply
How do you think those other options look?
My brain can only think as far as NFC sends or Nostr DM retrievals. As a side note, I’m surprised someone hasn’t come up with a way to send a lightning payment to meatspace geo-coordinates yet, to be collected or returned if not collected. But that’s probably insecure & gimmicky.
Nostr native browsers may help us close that gap too. Something Will and I’m sure others are working on. But that’s mostly just the same concept bundled into a different delivery method.
Alby has moved us forward immensely but I sense is about to come under custodial and security pressures, hence the question. But now you have me thinking bigger.

The Power of Words

Words contain “spelling”.

The systemic and repeated use of servile words conditions a population to accept and practice servile behaviour. We the People are taught to “submit”, “petition”, and to “appeal” to our Public Servants. We are not taught the critical difference between a “person” and a “man” or “woman”. Nor are we taught that the “Law of the Sea” refers only to legal fictions in Admiralty Maritime Jurisdiction – serving commerce, while the “Law of the Land” refers to lawful facts in the Common Law Jurisdiction – serving men and women. Trick words include “person” (the definition of “person” was changed to mean “corporation” in 1862), “understand” (“do you understand?” means “stand under my authority”), and “public” (all things “public” are of the State, including its artificial creations). Some of the most powerful words for living people are “man”, “woman”, “consent”, “private”, “property”, “administer”, “notice”, “require”, “verify”, “claim”, “trespass”, “injury”, “remedy”, “restoration”, “damages”, and “charge”. For example, a woman's children were seized by the court. She subsequently went to an “administrative court”, reclaiming her children, by stating: “I, a woman, believe that my property is being administered without my consent, and I require the immediate restoration of said property or I will be charging a dollar per second until the remedy is given.” Note: She never used the word "children", and would have lost if she did. She used her given first name only in court documents, and if asked for her full name would add “family of” as in “Jane: family of Smith”. Your “property” is everything that comes from your energy. The powerful words she used were “woman”, “property”, “administered”, “consent”, “require”, “restoration”, “charging”, and “remedy”. Learning key words and phrases is essential if you wish to establish your living “standing” as a “man” or “woman” possessing unalienable rights.

It's simple:
  • Bitcoin miners will move to north ice age regions, where the cooling will be almost 0 cost
  • Bitcoin users will move to southern regions (El Salvador, Argentina etc) where they can use their sats nicely in a warmer temp.

I know dude. Those type of people aren't friends. I would do some soul searching and see if it's worth being surrounded by such people. I don't know the history behind your friendship but that's not how you treat a friend.
