Thank you for this! I literally was thinking tonight that I wanted to find a guide like this -- I know a lot of bits about btc, more on the finance side than the tech side, but since joining NOSTR I've realized I've got a LOT of gaps in my knowledge, and I've never really looked into it from the ground up. This has given me a lot of great resources to check out.

I'm very happy to hear it. Enjoy the journey!

Of the books mentioned I have read 2 and I know 4/5 mentioned, all but 21 lessons, the videos I didn't know any of them, but what has caught my attention is Darthcoin guides, I will take a look at it.

Great resource list! I created an interactive education app called Jippi for users to earn and learn about Bitcoin with others. Our site is here: https://jippi.app. We're aiming to be the most beginner-friendly pathway into Bitcoin.

Thanks for posting. I will check it out for inclusion in the list. You also might want to draft a post for the territory introducing your product. Hint, hint :)

Thanks! And good idea, we posted in education but we'll post in bitcoin_beginners too

https://planb.network/ this is great content for noobs like me as well as for more experienced bitcoiners... check it out!

I've also found that the 99bitcoins YouTube channel finds a healthy balance between not being overly technical but still explaining some of the vague terms to non-tech people.

Suggested: "The bitcoin beginner's guide to Public Key Encryption" #476074
reply
Yes, good suggestion. I am going to update the Learning Resources page soon.

Bitcoin magazine's 21 days course is amazing. It takes you on a journey where you get to know Bitcoin closely in a simple and entertaining way.
All other resources provided here are also worth exploring. But if you're someone who is just a novice, you must first go through the 21 Days course.
reply
You're right. I don't like everything about Bitcoin Magazine, but they nailed that course.

I would add to books: "The Price of Tomorrow" by Jeff Booth "The Sovereign Individual" by James Dale Davidson, Lord William Rees-Mogg "Principles of Economics" by Saifedean Ammous "Layered Money" by Nik Bhatia To websites: https://nakamotoinstitute.org/ To videos: https://www.youtube.com/@BTCSessions/

Thanks for these suggestions. I am looking for more of these replies to improve and add to this page. I can't wait for perpetual edits.

The one you really should add is "learn me a bitcoin"
reply
Yeah, solid one.

Into your booklist, especially for those coming to Bitcoin from a non-technical background, is Yan Pritzker's "Inventing Bitcoin" which explains how Bitcoin works without getting technical. Through understanding this, many of the normal early questions get answered.
reply
I will definitely look into this book. I'm not familiar with it. Thanks
reply
Pretty sure Swan in the US has it available as a free download - Yan was their CTO for a while
reply
It is free download

GM. I would like to suggest the following website https://estudiobitcoin.com/ for those who have Spanish as main language. I found it 6-7 months ago and it helped a lot right from the beginning. I hope you enjoy it.
reply
Missing the "The Creature from Jekyll Island". If one reads this book, they will understand what motivated the creation of Bitcoin.
Ever wonder why we never taught how money actually works in school?
reply
Great book. I had to draw a line somewhere. The Sovereign Individual is another precursor example.

I think you should not allow to be posted any post-link here. ONLY guides with proof of work writing them. I see too much spam and crap posts that will only confuse newbies.
If somebody saw a nostr note or tweet, could just pass the text here and put at the end a source link. But just posting a fucking link saying "here is a guide for x wallet" it worth nothing but a downzap.
We want to teach newbies about proof of work but many are doing exactly opposite. FFS if you do not want to dedicate 10 min from your life writing a nice guide with your own hands and brain, then better GFY.

You're right. I am trying to avoid moderation, but I may have no choice. I tried raising posting fees a few weeks ago, and that really seemed to help. After the million sats thing I lowered it figuring some stackers wouldn't be able to afford as much. Maybe I'll raise them again and see if it improves. If not, my next step will be to downzap before actually moderating the territory.
reply
Yes, downzap is the last frontier. I myself I try to use as less is possible my "downzap wrath" because it means a lot for a new account. I think downzap should be used only on total shitcoinery not on meaningless clueless posts. I saw downzaps even for harmless memes.

My goal is to teach my community Bitcoin locally in our language but I need funding
reply
I want to get more familiar with Bitcoin, to get my family into it, thanks for the recourses!

How’s your progress?
No need to zap this post, please. I appreciate it, but it's just a revised and updated resource directory. I was under the impression that pinned posts could not be zapped. I guess I missed the change. BTW, it's great that pinned posts can now be zapped.
Thanks everyone for the recommendations! I’m just starting to get into cryptocurrency, but I’ve been trading Forex for a long time. Over the years, I’ve tried different brokers and understand how important fees are when choosing a platform. I can recommend RoboForex as it offers convenient conditions and transparent commissions. RoboForex trading fees explained helps to understand all charges and choose the best trading conditions.

SN isn't the place for this transparent advertising crap.
