Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.

Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!

We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!

I love it when old content gets zapped. So cool! Also, maybe it's a sign that the new "Related" and "Search" algorithms are working better!

reply

or is it mean someone is paying attention to you, so reading all the old stuff? 👀

reply

At least on stacker news, your stalkers can pay you! :)

reply

stalkers news 😂😂

Could also be that!

Oliver the Orchid is budding for the forth time. We found this vase at a thrift store that made a great orchid pot holder. Oliver's roots sit in a plastic pot that drains into the vase. The water at the bottom of the vase produces a high humidity environment for the roots without leaving them wet.

In modern day, this term is only used by douches who can't keep up with current slang, and by stupid ass middle schoolers who think they are the shit because of the 2015 movie of the same title that attempted to resurrect the term and make it "cool."

That got harsh pretty quick. Urban dictionary is rough!

reply

Urban dictionary is like the toxic, based version of a dictionary that is always up-to-date.

Howdy!

28 days of 100 push ups until $100k down. Undetermined to go. 24 days of 100 squats until $100k down. Undetermined to go.

The path to regaining freedom is waking up from the illusion of security/safety and taking things back into your own hands, from as simple as verifying software to safeguarding your own money.

reply

LOL I won the yesterday fun fact (wasn't my intention)! Now I have to spend the sats (wisely)...

reply

~builders is getting close to being SN’s first profitable territory… 74,300 sats of revenue in the last month 👀

reply

How is revenue calculated? Post and comment fees and zaps on posts and comments in that territory?

reply

post and comment fees, zap fees (not total zaps), and boosts, which go to territory owners

reply

Got it, thanks!

Day 68 of posting mining earnings from the day before: 598 sats on 23Feb2024! Running total: 49,356 sats!

Yesterday's comment

So... the 100 push-ups a day to send Bitcoin to 100k was Satoshi's idea !! 😅 https://mmalmi.github.io/satoshi/

reply

Dumb question, stackers: someone sent me a nice "DM" by making a LN payment to my SN wallet. If I want to reply, can I click on the barcode of the invoice and send some sats back, along w/ a message?

I've exchanged DMs like this before, but I always knew who I was messaging, so I just looked them up and paid that way. That's not the case here, and I don't want to send any sats into oblivion :(

reply

I don’t think you can reply unless they include some info about themselves in the comments on the payment.

punishment... for what you did.

reply

Do not worry. You are free now. The first day you feel bad, but then you feel liberated 😅

reply

Also lost my hat at 189 days. I feel you!

reply

ignoring the hat is the way - if you think people treat you differently with or without the hat, maybe that means lots of WORK needs to be done.

Hey, are any of you salooners messing around with the really small "lottery" miners? I have been intrigued with them for a while.

like the jade?

reply

I'm looking at the bitaxe ultra. I'm not familiar with the jade?

reply

blockstream jade is a hardware wallet and bitcoin miner.

reply

I figured you were talking about jade, which I think of as just a wallet. I'll check it out. Do you use it?

Today is the last day of Chinese New Year 🧧. My bicultural son happily dashed out with his self-made lion costume to get up close and personal with a lion dance troupe. Seeing how he absorbed himself into this tradition warms my heart because I don’t have to be afraid that he won’t identify himself as Chinese anymore. It’s just peculiar how much he took to lion dancing because I have always found it to be too loud and noisy.

reply

What an adorable scene.

I bet the troupe loved seeing the other lion dancer.

In fact, I'm guessing it brought back memories of doing something similar when they were his age.

Get ready for Hinamatsuri or Japanese Girl's Day on 3rd of March.

That’s the best part about marrying someone not of my race. It’s like we are celebrating something every month. Makes time flow more memorably

Will report then!

I expect to see an essay on dolls and girls on my desk by Monday morning.
