What’s your country/culture’s comfort food?

I was watching TV one day when I learnt that the Koreans love their cheese and ramen:

This reminded me of most Japanese who swear by natto (fermented soya beans). My wife even calls it soul food.

Which leads to the question buzzing in my mind: What is your country/culture’s comfort food?

Ramyeon (different from Japanese Ramen) yes, Ramyeon with cheese is not really that popular. You might find it in some hipster place promoted by some random influencer, but it's def not the standard comfort food in Korea.

Other than Ramyeon, Tteokbokki would probably be one of the most famous Korean foods...

This goes to show that I should take whatever I see on TV with a pinch of salt haha.

Do you have two kimchi fridges at home? That’s another generalisation I picked up from watching TV.

Lots of people have one regular fridge and one kimchi fridge. Not two kimchi ones though~~

But slowly more and more people are ditching the kimchi fridge, but i guess still a majority has one. We don't.

For me, as a kid it was a warm bowl of pastina with milk and butter. Italian American comfort food, which makes real Italians wince.

Oh, I'm just assuming. I've had many conversations with Italian people from Italy about the way those like me who migrated to the US eat.

As you know that we are a country which is most diverse in culture, food and traditions. What we love in north, we won't find it in everyday meals in the south. We have names like North Indian Food, South Indian Food, Gujrati Food, Punjabi Food, Rajasthani Food, an so on. So much diversity that it would require me to devote a lot of time on the subject. But if you wanna know my favourite dish it's from north india ..

Mamaliga with smetana, brânză and tvorog. You don't even need forks to eat, hands are just fine.

Moldova/Romania. Also recommend to check our borș, they have "secret" ingredient called borș acru which makes soup sour and tasteful.

I don't know if I would consider natto comfort food for me, as a Japanese American I love it but, as a Californian my comfort food is a nice carne asada burrito and some grilled fish tacos!
