Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.
Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!
We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!
The minds of so many are so tightly shackled
And the hopes of the masses are so severely crushed
That they are content to build better cages
Rather than seize their freedom using the wisdom of sages

Dearest stock market why must you tank and bring down BTC with you... I feel this is one of the downsides to the BTC ETFs when the market is bad and people are starting to panic and we need the price to rebound above $69k to fry the short sellers for $1.5 bil
reply
Just checked, and it looks like 1 BTC is still worth 1 BTC, so I think all's good.
(Seriously, though, I've seen expressions like "when NASDAQ gets a cold, Bitcoin gets the flu" and I'd imagine ETFs would exacerbate that.)
reply
Yeah ur right! I just wanted to see $1.5 bil in BTC shorts expire πŸ˜‚ I’m choosing chaos today
reply
I'm always fine with choosing chaos, and watching folks with shorts lose their pants (so to speak) is definitely fun to hope for.
reply
Why do you feel this? Bitcoin went down many times before ETFs, hand in hand with the whole stock market.
reply
It is the additional exposure. Previously it was really just Grayscale but not we have what roughly 10 ETFs so there are more people who are getting into it this way which is good in that people are accepting it as a part of the future but when the market tanks an ETF holding BTC only would be the first on the chopping block. Esp if people are for instance facing the good old Friday margin calls and are having to firesell the newest and most unfamiliar things will be sold off first so BTC gets some additional downward pressure if that makes sense.

My daughter asks me random questions every day about any topic. Today's question was: If a bear and a bull fight, who wins? ...what would they answer?
reply
Discovery or History channel have the answer... that's sure... hahaha.
reply
reply
What do you think are the advantages of the bear?
reply
Big AF and fast!
reply
In the wild I would say the bear would win but in bitcoin eventually the bull always wins.
reply
I think that in nature the bull would win, with one attack it could kill the bear, or at least leave it very badly injured, the bear would have to attack vital areas of the bull while it is attacked. It would be a very rough fight πŸ€”. If we talk about bitcoin, I agree with you.
reply
It might depend on the type of bear and what "winning" means, but probably the bull.
reply
My daughter tells me that she is talking about a polar bear, a polar bear would have no chance with a bull, unless they are in the bear's habitat, then the disadvantage would be the bull. My curiosity thinks of a grizzly bear against a bull, it would be a very close fight, maybe I lean towards the bull.
reply
I have an asymmetric view of what winning entails for both animals. For the bear, winning means killing and eating the bull. For the bull, winning means not getting eaten.
On balance, I think the bull is likely to survive this encounter, with both animals being injured.

Did you know that dance is taught during Physical Education lessons for all middle school students?
Perhaps the Sports & Wellness department could share with the Dance teachers-in-charge the dance curriculum they curate for all Year 1 students so that the Dance Club has a clearer idea of the dance techniques they are honing during their time at school.

been a while since i did a horse stance. there is a scene of Jackie Chan in Drunken Boxing where he is cracking walnuts, with a nut in each hand, while in a horse stance. it is forever engrained in my mind. i do crack walnuts like that, but need to also practice the stance.

Drunken master is the movie name.
Nice.. Do you have a personal best time? How long have you practiced before?

lets have some fun this upcoming season. see this post for details #473247
reply
I'm willing, but I never played it before. Will there be hand holding?
reply
before i forget, two resources you may find helpful.
  1. keep, trade, cut. especially for dynasty trades, gives you a ball park to work in and is a really helpful tool when starting trade negotiations with people. its not gospel but it is a good start.
  2. fantasy pros - really helpful with rankings to help you prioritise your picks and stuff.
reply
Thanks
reply
it'll be great to have you join the league, that would make 7, ideally we'd want to find one more for a decent sized 8 man league, keeps things easy to learn and easy to play. i want to keep it all stackers only, but if push comes to shove, i can reach out to other people i'm in multiple leagues with and have them fill a spot, maybe they end up coming to SN via the league.
reply
I need to look into it more before I commit. I don't want to bail half way through. When do you need to know by?
reply
i was going to close the league for entries once we were ready to draft. i intend on drafting shortly after the main NFL draft. maybe the following week, we'd know the landing spots of players and things like that by then so i think approximately a week after the real NFL draft is when i'd look to close entry. so anytime really before then. but i'd recommend giving yourself some time to get familiar with drafting by doing at least one mock in an auction format. just so you know what you're going to expect at the actual start up draft.
reply
Yeah. We got people who have played before but not in years and we got people who just want a casual no stress league.
Since I'm commissioning it, I intend to provide help and guidance for people.
Eg. If I think a trade is hugely one-sided and unfair I'll probably contest it and ensure I've spoken with the people involved in the trade. We want a fun league not one where people are taking advantage of inexperienced players. That's no fun.
reply
Good. First question: I don't use google. Is there an alternate source to grab that sleeper app that you are aware of? If not, I'll hunt around.
reply
Alternatively, you can log in on your browser then do a browser shortcut to mobile? That's how I'd do it.
reply
Good idea
reply
That's how I use SN as I found it slightly better than the actual app.
reply
SN has an official app? I use the PWA, which is what I think you probably use too?
I think it's available on the aurora store? If not you can get it straight off their website sleeper.app
reply
I think it's on APK combo. Okay. Thanks
reply
We're doing an auction draft as a start up because it's going to be a dynasty league. Which is wicked fun, just keep in mind your roster construction and how many of each position you want to start. I'd recommend using their mock draft tool to get familiar with drafting for fantasy. It can be very entertaining.
However if it doesn't take off as a dynasty we're flexible enough to move to redraft easily. But I'd hoped to keep it dynasty and produce weekly updates for ~stacker_sports hopefully bystanders will be able to effectively begin to support a team and watch how their stacker is getting on. There's lots of scope for content for stacker sports from this.

reply
I did a little research and I really couldn't find anything about bob marley having said this. Only if it was in a song.
reply
I notice this happens online a lot with Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon too. People make up memes attributing quotes to them that they never said.
reply
I'll keep a closer eye on these situations. Thanks for the warning πŸ‘
reply
I guess it's not a huge deal if the quote is good, but I wonder if people sometimes make them up rather than misattribute them.
