A year and a half ago my husband began the transition to quit smoking, and what a force of will that makes me admire, it is not difficult to give up a vice that has accompanied you for 15 years, right? Along the way he had several failed attempts to quit, until he finally succeeded. When I met him he already had the cigarette habit well rooted in his core, his breakfast could easily be a cigarette and a Coca Cola, as a snack, as a digestif, the cigarette was present. I am a patient with asthma, one day I remember going to the pharmacy to buy my inhaler and I asked him for some cigarettes, inside I said this can't be, at that time the asthma was destroying me, I talked to him, I told him that I was a passive smoker and it didn't help me improve, I didn't spend much time on that when I saw him researching strategies to quit smoking, among them the one that seemed most comfortable to him was replacing the cigarette with a vaper, I already know In many places its use is prohibited, some demonize it, but that is only a consequence of those who use it irresponsibly. Between the cigarette and the vape, the vape is better, and between the vape and oxygen the oxygen is obviously better; so if you are not a smoker, don't try the vape, it is not necessary. Continued, my husband bought his vape and a nicotine-free essence (According to the DSM-5, nicotine is the number 1 most addictive substance), at first I used it a lot in an unrestrained way, but without buying a single cigarette, I can't talk about its emotions because only he knows how he felt, but what he told me was that at the moment a cigarette provoked him, so he used his vape, until as the days passed, the smell of the cigarette already caused him disgust, that's when it started. to notice the change more, and it seems incredible to me, because I smoked for approximately 3 years, I stopped when I got pregnant and I haven't smoked again for 6 years, but from time to time it gives me anxiety and provokes me, many times I have been tempted to buy, but then I remember that my daughter needs me alive and not with a collapse in my lungs due to asthma, so how does someone who spent 15 years smoking disgust her? wow it's as if that vice never existed in his life. As the months went by, the use of the vape decreased, he went to smoking 50 times a day, to 20 a week (I'm making up the numbers, I take it as a percentage), then he simply went to work and left the vape at home , that was a super huge step, until the day finally came when the vape just became a forgotten object in a drawer 6 months ago. I'm proud, my husband quit smoking 18 months ago and vaping 6 months ago.

Congratulations!
I used to smoke cigarettes in my previous life, with similar habits as your husband. Stopping the destructive habit is one of my life biggest achievements. That was before vaping was popular.
Allen Carr's book on how to quit smoking helped me. It's funny that when the idea to quit smoking is allowed to grow in your mind, it's only a matter of time until it materialises. This is basically what the book taught me, and how it helped me to stop with the habit. I remember my last cigarette. I remember how I knew, while smoking it, that it was my last cigarette, as predicted in the book.
I've also later stopped coffee and alcohol, and I believe Carr's technique helped me here too.

wow, how impressive, congratulations to you too for your achievements, it is a success to overcome destructive habits, it is not easy at all. I will say something cliché but it is very true and that is that the first step is to realize that you have a problem, the rest is up to each person, to overcome it or stay in the "comfort zone", it is very hard to go through abstinence, That's really the pain when it comes to quitting an addiction, but today there are many methods that can help. My husband loves to read, I am going to tell him about the book, I am sure he will read it with great pleasure. Thank you very much for telling your story

Vaping helped me quit cigarettes

How wonderful! Vaping is not so bad, it all depends on the use you want to give it, if it is for the transition from quitting cigarettes, it is a very good option for many. Congratulations! How did you feel about the transition?
