Siggy’s Suggestions
It’s not often that an article from mises.org shows up in this territory. Although it got some attention, I can’t help but think it would have gotten more engagement if posted in the bitcoin territory. I have been reading every article I can get my hands on about the Samourai indictments, and this is one of the best. I did not know the Mises guys were focused on bitcoin. The legal analysis is first rate. Placing the prosecution in the context of the ETF launch highlights the big picture for all of us to see. It is worth taking the time to read.
I always enjoy reading about @speakingyourtruth’s adventure in Japan. For some reason this post didn’t get much engagement, but I really enjoyed it. I think it’s worth your time.
This week’s Golden Oldie:
Today’s Golden Oldie is from @elvismercury. I thought about this article a few weeks ago when having lunch with a friend. He and his wife are typical New Yorkers. He is a psychologist and she is a City College professor. He grew up in a secular Jewish family. They both are politically very liberal. They live in Morningside Heights, literally a block from Columbia University’s campus. We rarely see eye to eye politically, but I think it’s fair to say we both enjoy our back and forth banter. Our lunchtime conversation naturally turned to the Israel/Palestine situation. He felt threatened and scared by the violent protests. I pointed out to him that a few years ago he was literally a BLM protester who witnessed cars being burned and store windows being smashed while looters stole merchandise. He had excused those incidents as justifiable. He insisted this wasn’t the same. He feels unsafe in his neighborhood and is thinking of moving.
Later, I thought about how these recent events have caused me to seek out news sources I would never have paid attention to a few months ago. Politicians and pundits I despise suddenly sound like the voice of reason. Others I always agree with sound like stark raving lunatics. I don’t know if anyone else has had this experience. The only consistent news source for me is the New York Times. No matter the issue, the Gray Lady is always wrong.
