⚡Right now Lightning can be recieved via invoices or ln-url. It can be send only via ln-url or tools like ln.cash.
⚡One of the big selling points of onchain Bitcoin was the elegance of QR codes of static adresses. We need that on Lightning.
⚡And wallets that can detect if something is onchain or lightning to make it seemless for normies.
Then we
  1. Don't have to explain to normies anymore that Lightning is actually Bitcoin and not a Shitcoin they haven't heard about
  2. We don't have to find a nice Lightning logo (none is dominant by now)
  3. Don't have to explain L2 to normies. It's just a seemless blackbox
ok, bye 👋🏻
Bolt 12 + BIP 21 URIs --> https://bitcoinqr.dev/
Bolt 12 gives you a static QR. BIP 21 lets you combine both on-chain and L2 (Lightning payreq or anything else) into a single QR code.

BitcoinQR does not work with LN-URL. It only works with LN invoice.

I see a bunch of specialists in product design and user psychology here.
Onchain addresses are horrible, horrible UX. They only have mild success because of the other properties of Bitcoin that make it desirable.
And Bitcoin in general is not a success by any means, we are far, far from success. Trying to replicate a thing that wasn't a success and is arguably a terrible UX is not smart.
Also, lnurlpay and lightningaddress.com already has all you want, so stop complaining.
reply
How was onchain ux horrible? There is nothing as elegant as having a qr code at the point of sale and the customer scanning it. Where is the problem?
reply
Bolt 12 is coming and in the mean time you can use lightning addresses

and keysend. Why users ignore totally this amazing feature?
reply
Can anyone implement this with a custodial wallet? Can anyone pay to it out of the box with any mobile wallet.
reply
Using a custodian means that you are not using bitcoin. It means you are using legacy financial services. They can tell you that you are using bitcoin, but it's all just pretend.
reply
Custodial means "is not your LN node". Please don't include those in discussion. Custodial LN wallets can simply use LN address with success, no big deal. Seems that you have no idea what are you talking about.

These two quotes seem like they are in tension. "Don't even talk about what custodial wallets can use. BTW here is one of the things they can use."

They are essential to adoption. If you like it or not.
reply
How many LN wallets you used?
reply
No. Adoption means people have to learn in order to use. If they do not want to learn... fuck'em'all, I don't give a shit about lazy NPC people.
reply
Keysend is lnd specific (and supported by core lightning via plugin). Obviously, we need an always live node. Non custodial mobile wallet cannot handle this such use case.

There's a fundamental restriction that you can't send anything through Lightning to a mobile user who's neither running a node at home, nor using a custodial wallet, nor has the phone on. Bolt12 can't fix this. Normies just have to learn this.

senseless gatekeeping is hurting the movement

what?

I think lightning addresses are sufficient enough
reply
It's coming with Bolt12 if I remember ? Yeah the random user doesn't give a damn if he's on L1 or L2. For now the closest wallet to do a "invisible" transition between both is Muun.

That's a big one for me. Bitcoin is Bitcoin. My bank doesn't tell me if it's internal accounting or IBAN or SWIFT in the background either - and I honestly couldn't care less.
reply
You need to learn more about LN. LN already have a static QR code that many ignore to use it: KEYSEND. You can send any sats anytime, without any invoice to a node ID, directl¡y from your LN wallet that support keysend.
Normies have to read and learn not having everything "dumb proof". Otherwise we will continue to have idiots in this world and look where we get until now with this idiotic culture of having everything "dumb proof" things...

Strongly disagree. You sound like old man yelling at cloud that thought old linux kernel was better or refuses to use gnome/kde. These people thought they were the orthodoxy keepers while actually being harmful to the movement.
reply
Then keep being a NPC :) Don't learn. Just follow and mostly don't think (is dangerous).
reply
I think it's prettty pathetic that you always get so personal. Is it impossible to have a normal non-arguing conversation with you in real life as well? If so, I pity you.
reply
"personal" ? Why? I don't give a shit about any opinion about my tone or way I talk. Is your problem not mine.

What about getting a lightning address and then put that address in a qrcode?.
What we need is integration of lightning address,a user install a wallet, select a provider of a lightning address and then can share it?
