I created this territory on a whim. I'm tired of hunting around to find an appropriate territory for what I want to post. It is an experiment. Let's see how it goes.

Interesting. I am sure this territory will be a flurry of activity over the next few months.

Are Canadian political musings welcome in these new lands?

reply

It will be instantly spammed with Trump and Kamala bullshit...

reply

We'll see where the stackers take us. If it's bad, it will be a short lived experiment

reply

It appears @DarthCoin might have been incorrect this time 🤠

reply

just give it time... the spammers do not work in weekends...
did you notice that?

reply

Ahahha! Weekends off? Sounds like they've got things under control. Let the spammers come clean 🤠

reply

Of course. Worldwide politics. Every political persuasion from anarcho capitalism to full blown totalitarian communism. I have no plans or rules.

reply

Let's hope so. Hatred of Trudeau knows no borders.

reply

Seeking your advice. I have a tale to tell about using bitcoin to help a gentleman begging for money get some dinner. Want to post it in either bitcoin beginners (his first introduction to bitcoin) or books and articles (it is a story after all). What do you think?

reply

I think books and articles. You have a literary flair. Either one would be great, though

reply

Glad I asked. I started a post in bitcoin beginners and then I thought it is not really an orange pilling story. Although I did tell him about bitcoin. I wasn't under any presumption that the guy who is looking for his next meal is going to start stacking sats.

reply

No offense to you, but I hate politics, so I’ll probably end up muting this territory if it gets uptake. I think many folks will enjoy it though, so it’s probably a good idea!

reply

Fair enough

reply

can't wait to get schooled

reply

@Car doesn't like to hear stuff about "the law"... he sighs and move on... not finishing the read.

reply

🤣 that actually was keyan sighing

reply

must be because of that huge hat, the pressure wearing it 😂😂😂

reply

ya that hat threw me off yesterday, was not expecting it

reply

This is another example of 'What you ask for, you gonna get it.'
Did you have plans of buying it, or it's just yesterday when I asked the question.

reply

Your question got me thinking. Then this morning I couldn't find a territory for a post I wanted to make. That did it.

reply

That's so nice of you.
I like the name ~Politics_and_law. I strongly believe that politics and law are abiding to each other. In modern times we see a lot of discrimination being made in both but in ancient times they were treated same.
Especially talking about Indian political system before Kautilya, it was on Manu's Dharmshatra that used to be the basis of society, politics, law and all other practices. Kautilya wrote "Arthshastra" that later replaced Dharmshatra. Arthshastra had 12 books in total which depict how a utopian world should look like. These books even suggested what would be an expected behaviour from a couple, what rules they should follow while love making.
Isn't it interesting that the book was written 2200 years ago.

reply

Good job. This experiment will prove very good

reply

I was thinking of doing some political commentary and was shocked we didn’t have a politics territory. I thought about creating one but who better than you.

Now I can work on this idea I have and post it here if I so choose

reply

Please do. I think there are a lot of stackers with strong opinions who will use the territory as they see fit.

reply

Some questions to ask:

  1. Are politics a direct result from law? or the way around?
  2. What is the relation between politics and law?
  3. Can politics exist without "the law"?
  4. Can the law exist without politics?
reply

All really good questions.

reply

a good politician invites good questions, and answers them using proper reason.
politicians that do not know grammar, logic, and rhetoric well can gtfo.

[Latin politicus "of citizens or the state, civil, civic," from Greek politikos "of citizens, pertaining to the state and its administration; pertaining to public life," from polites "citizen," from polis "city."]

i think in times of strife, when everyone is confused and panicking, it's fine to form a community with a committee, so that people can organize themselves, albeit temporarily, until the problems are fixed. however, based on this logic, we have been in times of strife for a very very long time.

perhaps pure anarchony is the way, however it's like ascending a ladder... and most of the rungs are broken. people need a boost of education once in a while.

reply

Whatever you will do, organizing in small communities, committees etc, you will always have to go to these basics:

reply

🤣 you'll have lot of work on this territory!

reply

Congratulations! You now have three. It'll also be successful. Politics is everyone's interest.

reply

Siggy in the law territory... 😂

@siggy47 did you watched this movie? How would you describe it, from your eyes as ex-law man ? Did they do it correctly, right or lawful ?
Is a very interesting movie that puts you more questions about those events.

reply

I never saw it because I always root for the bad guys for some reason.

reply

please watch it. I would like to hear your review. Is a good movie and Kevin Costner (Siggy) play as usual a perfect role.

reply

I will. I will force my family to watch it too.

reply

few minutes later...

reply

Until my wife comes home and kicks him out.

reply

Good idea.
Noble experiment 🔬!

Here is a good example:

reply

Yes. I expect YOU to weigh in frequently!

reply

lol 😂 lol 😂

reply

Best of luck!
Great. We'll be learning a lot from you.

reply

THANK YOU!!! I've been thinking for a while that I needed an exclusive territory to talk about politics. It's also happened to me several times that I want to publish something about politics and I have no idea where to do it and I end up publishing in any territory that I think is appropriate.

reply

I was hoping you wanted to use this territory

reply

Best of luck. No doubt experiment will successful.

reply

Do you believe it's a dirty game?

reply

Politics, law, or Stacker News? Or all three?

reply

State of politics

reply

Oh yes it is

reply

Well, congratulations. Politics generates controversy, analysis, debate, teaching, learning. So SN without a political territory was missing some spice. Now, although we are not stupid people who vote, as the book of the Fundamental Laws of Stupidity says, we are interested in knowing about any subject, and politics is part of life, not ours, but we should know it.

And now we have a little gem from @DarthCoin. "THE LAW"

And it starts off very interesting. Here it goes.

reply

Congrats. It's nice to have a place where you get to help set the tone. I have held the alter_native for a while now and I really enjoy having it. Best of luck with your experiment.

reply

Thanks for the good wishes!

reply

Not sure how politics and law are related...

Anyway, use ~AGORA for UCC and Commercial Law

reply

https://www.princeton.edu/~kewhitt/lawandpolitics

Law and politics are deeply intertwined. Law is an essential tool of government action, an instrument with which government tries to influence society. Law is also the means by which government itself is structured, regulated and controlled. It is no surprise, then, that law is an important prize in the political struggle and that law shapes how politics is conducted.
reply

Laws are created by legislators who are elected in liberal democracies and republics

Many law students concentrated in political science in college

reply

I don’t know how I missed this announcement but boy am I ready to contribute here!!!!!

reply

Well, let's hope it is accepted and others join in publishing in it.

reply

Good stuff.

reply

Great work
This will use wild in future

reply

This territory will be used alot over the next couple months, cheers!

reply

Oooooh,

Strangely looking forward to this one.

It is a region characterized by a high incidence of gunfire. It is highly probable that this particular instance will not deviate from the norm. I wish you the best of luck with your endeavor.

I'm glad someone solved this problem. Now if we could only get a religion subdivision...

Good luck! A tough one!
