Announcements (Including a Potentially BIG one)

Welcome to this week’s newsletter.
@bitalion gave us the Top Post Of The Week, with a detailed write up explaining how to buy non-KYC bitcoin with lnp2pbot. We also were treated to two more instructional @DarthCoin link posts. I’m particularly excited by @justin_shocknet’s LightningPub/Shockwallet setup. Thanks to everyone who contributed this week.
Top Post Of The Week Experiment
  • I don’t know how many of you read this newsletter carefully, but I have come up with a new idea to juice the contest a little. Due to improved territory income at SN, I have decided to try the following:
  • Currently, I award a total of 2000 sats per week for Top Posts. The #1 Post gets half, and #’s 2-5 share the other half. Next week, I will award a total of 2000 sats OR the average daily award for the territory, whichever is higher. If it’s a success, I will make it permanent. If it works, I will be giving 14% of each week’s territory revenue to the top stackers.
  • This is a win-win. It will help the territory, while providing top posters the opportunity to earn many more sats. It’s probably a long process, and I’ll see how it evolves, but eventually I would like this territory to be a place where high quality posts can start earning more sats on a regular basis.

Top 5 Posts Of The Week

There will be a zap award for the top 5 posts weekly. It will be broken down as follows:
  1. 1000 sats
  2. 250 sats
  3. 250 sats
  4. 250 sats
  5. 250 sats
Posts will be judged using SN zaprank. The cut off time is 9:00am EST (1300GMT) Friday morning. I will post the top 5 winners shortly after 9:00am every Friday morning.
I reserve the right to not award any sats for the week. I hope I don’t need to suspend awards, so I will keep the bar low. Also, I reserve the right to deny sat awards to bare link posts. I recognize that link posts can be valuable, so I will only only exercise discretion for low quality links that garner few sats or engagement from stackers.

Learning Resources

The White Paper

Everyone knows about the white paper, but have you read it? Here is the pdf.

DarthCoin’s Guides

DarthCoin is a somewhat controversial figure with a manner that may take some getting used to, but I think his guides are excellent as step by step instruction. The sentence structure might be unconventional, and he may express some strong opinions, but you will learn what he has set out to teach you. Here is a link to DarthCoin’s Substack Page, where you can find all of DarthCoin’s guides: https://darthcoin.substack.com/

Radentor’s Ecosystem Map

@Radentor has created a comprehensive ecosystem map. I believe he intends to keep this list updated Beginners will benefit from checking it out, as will experienced bitcoiners.

Why Bitcoin Only

Why Bitcoin Only is a massive trove of links, where you can find just about anything you’re looking for. It’s also fun to browse around.

Top Posts Of All Time

Here you will find a few of the top posts that have been posted to this territory. I am not going to adhere to a rigid zaprank system, since my purpose is to highlight content that has educational value. I will use an informal combination of zaprank and my own evaluation. For instance, some posts, though of high quality, are solely about Stacker News, and might have more appropriately originated as a meta post.

I still owe you that full Alby Hub guide. The truth is that I wait for Alby to release new versions with more features and see how is going and also testing it more with all backends in different situations.

That will be valuable.

Cool idea! I'm eager to hear how much territory revenues pick up.

I was surprised by the first day. There was a fairly decent post on the territory yesterday. It actually helped produce territory awards for the day which exceeded my total top post "kitty": 2000sats v. around 2777. If more people produce better content, the daily average could really soar.
