Short answer yes...
Long answer, yeeeeeeeeeesssssss.
Id be lucky on most days if I make 1-200sats in territory revenue. Profitability is not why I do music.
reply
1-200 sats.
No one zaps in your territory. They just share songs and go. Need to think on this.
reply
Cmon admit it @Public_N_M_E you’re doing it for the exposure!
reply
Exposure to a tiny corner of the internet 🤣🤣 I feel like a king 🤣🤣
reply
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
reply
Yep. Actually I have seen an uptick in zaps on the posts. But I wasn't counting that as territory revenue really. As that's zapping my posts. I was thinking of territory revenue as generated by posts (from other users) in the territory.
reply
You should get a notification daily with how much revenue the territory generated.
reply
Yeah, I wasn't sure if that was inclusive of my own posts though. Today was 778sats revenue. That's with throwback Thursday posted aswell, But it's hard to work out if I'm just paying myself in a circular way with deminishing returns 😂
A normal day with only the daily posted will generate maybe 200sats usually.
reply
Yes you definitely end up paying yourself in territory revenue but if you were going to be active and zapping on SN anyways if you didn’t have a territory you would have spent some of that anyways and you get daily rewards from SN. I know you do it as a passionate project. Hopefully you at least cover the new monthly cost with your territory and personal rewards.
reply
I think so. I haven't run the hard numbers but I didn't need to top up my "for SN wallet" from any of my others for a change this last cycle.
reply
If you’re gonna pay to post may as well pay yourself first!
reply
I did for a while post for free, but I kinda couldn't be bothered to edit cost to zero post and then put it back so I gave in and just pay my own posting fees.
I zap him, you zap him, I find it that other than Bitcoin related posts, there aren't many who zap and take interest in other territories (other than ~Stacker_sports). I tried hard with one of my innumerable alt accounts but I couldn't sustain due to the same lack of interest from real stackers (there were many bots actually who I saw were only posting on music).
reply
Yeah, I've seen accounts I'm fairly sure are bots, but I just don't know how to deal with them. I appreciated you reaching out to me via DM on nostr about bots but it is something I find very hard to police.
reply
I'm glad you saw that.I thought you didn't read the nostr message because you didn't reply.
After seeing so many of them posting daily I visited their bios and I found all of their comments on ~music Territory posts.
I'm not saying we should discourage the bots from posting but it doesn't make any sense either to zap them.
reply
If a person writes a bot that gives ppl value, might as well reward them for that bot.
This is the Bitcoin programmable money vision!

fun fact, about 5 years ago I went very hard into health and wellness and started a large blog and wanted to actually help people with weight loss, nutrition, and understanding what biomarkers to check etc
With blogs being dead and with me living in a literal village in Bulgaria, I disbanded efforts.
now that you guys are opening this territory, I will be a regular. the previous post fee on health etc was a total rip off
now if only someone could reactivate history and drop the outrageous 4k sat fee on that too
reply
Awesome!
reply
Is reactivating history something we can do?
Im just a Bitcoin dog 🐕 in an SN shop
reply
It should be possible. There are competing territories in the social science space, though, so it might be harder to carve out a lane.
Even with ~econ, lots of people post in ~Politics_And_Law or ~Charts_And_Numbers, instead.

WE HAVE PICKED A LANE!

Why did you not choose to restore one of the archived territories instead of creating a new one from scratch?
Also, curious how you @grayruby, @Undisciplined and @IamSINGLE find an agreement on how to manage it? Did you talk in the private or can you refer some post here on SN?
How do you trust @realBitcoinDog not to disappear under another nym and keep all future earnings?
reply
He could have restored an archived territory but what’s the difference?
Yes, there is trust involved here but I am willing to take the risk. I don’t think RBD who wants to sell his bitcoin books to the Bitcoin community would ruin his reputation in the Bitcoin community to steal our sats.
I imagine eventually we will be able to forward territory earnings to other users in the same way we can forward sats from a post.
reply
Good questions.
I thought we had restored ~health and then changed the name. If that's not what happened, then it's probably because @realBitcoinDog screwed the pooch.
Our discussion happened right out in the open on SN threads, although I had mentioned to @grayruby that I was interested in reviving this territory during our podcast prep.
We're month to month, so the potential immediate loss is fairly minimal. I doubt @realBitcoinDog would screw us so blatantly in public for a bunch of reasons: 1) we've developed something of a relationship (he was our first podcast guest), 2) we are supporters of his work, so he'd be shooting himself in the foot, 3) reputation matters on SN and publicly shafting other territory owners probably won't end well. I'm sure there are more, but considering how low the potential gains are, the smart play in this game is to cooperate.

Congrats on the podcast! That's great... later you explain to me how is that SN is immortal? I guest is running on one server, I mean is centralized and there's many way it could go down. Don't want to be pessimistic, but... I think immortal is a bit excessive 🤣
reply
The idea of immortal communities was part of the SN pitch deck.
reply
Agreed @AG Id prefer for the web hosting of SN to be decentralized, which could happen one day, but the idea that territories are self-funded communities of quality posts
reply
@Undisciplined is right. Again here do I compare myself to Satoshi Nakamoto. The game theory incentives of Bitcoin and ~HealthAndFitness work out
How do you pick between ~fitness or ~health to revive? YOLO!

I'd have chosen the one with more posts, ~health.

That's the one I thought we were reviving.

Didn't I tell you that you should be buying ~health and changing the name? #843907
Now, there's nothing you can do, until the SN management allows merging similar territories. The old content that could be yours as a bonus gift, is lost now because you're ........... (Fill in).

Jeeze @Coinsreporter why do you bring this pain onto yourself! You’re not a founding member. Let me talk to @IamSINGLE! She’s the one who wanted to co-found the territory and made no such suggestion! 😅

It's just first day so 472, considering we started very late is pretty handsome revenue. To get back our investments, we require to maintain it above 1500 sats. That way, we won't require to fund next month.

It might be a little early for such assessments. We did wait until later in the afternoon to launch and most SN activity happens in the morning.
reply
You're being a complete dumbass. Instead of setting a reasonable and affordable posting fee for your territory, you cranked it up just to recover the 50k you all invested. Keep this up, and you'll prove my prophecy right that your territory won’t last more than a month.
What should you do?
Set the cost at 45–55 sats.
Make an announcement post explaining how you want people to engage with your territory and how affordable it is.
But hey, if you’d rather stay stuck in your daydreams, go ahead. I tried multiple times to tell @ch0k1 to lower his territory fee to 50 sats, but he ignores it. I doubt his territory makes much revenue, which is probably why he spams posts.
I'm planning to launch my own territory soon once this CC issue gets sorted out. If not, then maybe not. But trust me, if I make a move, my territory will thrive.

I tried multiple times to tell @ch0k1 to lower his territory fee to 50 sats, but he ignores it.
I haven't ignored your suggestion @e0ce06e368, even the opposite - immediately after your request, I made this territory poll post which aimed to express my opinion and concerns about your proposal and must impartially to collect SN and ~news users' feedback and opinion on the matter.
As you can see both from the poll results (76.5% to 23.5% to leave the cost as it is) and its comments where basically everybody expressed the 100 Sats are perfectly fine.
I doubt his territory makes much revenue...
As I already said - my main motivation to run the ~news territory is NOT to make profit out of it but because I found a SN niche which matched with my daily habit to read the news, filter the quality part of them (ofc from my perspective) and to share it to others in order to help them stay informed and try to block the noice of today's disinformation.
After clearing this out, one of my main concerns of lowering the cost of posts in ~news was that it could become the main catalyst for ruining exactly that mission by paving the way of users to flood the territory with misinformation ruining the whole effort of my filtering. Of course, I'm far away from the conclusion that my judgement of objectivity for the news I post is correct so that's why I'm always open for critics about the factology and moderation.
which is probably why he spams posts
I have never heard anyone else but you to complain that my posts are spam, again the opposite - I believe stackers like @Akg10s33 #752003 and other territory founders like @south_korea_ln and many more would confirm my efforts to share quality content.
reply
Strange, I didn’t see your post. In my opinion, you own a territory that should have posts every single minute about whatever’s happening in the world. But people hesitate to post there because they’re worried they won’t get back what they put in. I’m saying this because I use SN a lot, and this change could really keep us updated without needing to check those sites all the time. You can ignore what I said about spamming I was just caught up in the moment. But you’re the owner, so it’s your decision.Fucking fine!
reply
The fee is a tricky thing. I have a 21 sat fee. Darthcoin sees things differently from you, as he's suggested me to increase the fee. That's fine. He probably also got caught up in his hunt for assmilkers and noticed the low fee was giving them an uncheckered playground.
I also see ~science as a way to get the articles I deem interesting visible to the world. Science has taken a bad hit in reliability in recent years, because of idiots like Fauci, and others who start doing politics instead of just reporting their results. People don't trust the science anymore. Because all they hear is about climate change and vaccines. However, I want to show that a lot of good science is still being done. Beautiful math. Useful condensed matter research. Scary developments in terms of quantum computers and AI.
Of course, what I like is not what other people like. So, anyone can post what they want, but in my current iteration, I only tip the things I like. When tipping, I look at the content, not the Stacker. So yes, occasionally, an ass-milker gets sats from me.
And more selfishly, similar to @ch0k1, my goal is that with my current efforts of curating articles, in the long run, I won't have to do anymore, because other people will do it for me by posting in my territory. And I then won't have to visit outside news sources anymore.
