Studies suggest that legalized prostitution is associated with higher incidents of human trafficking, although you could easily argue that anyone has the right to sell their own body regardless.
I read this generation is having the least sex of previous ones, the internet and inflation does wonders for celibacy I suppose versus any government mandate.
Besides, let people enjoy themselves, people are going to pork, get over it! It's an open market, and people are free to choose. All men pay for sex, all we are is haggling over quality, consistency and price
Also Think of all the dudes that don't go wackadoodle on society because they can't get any, thats the unseen that those ladies of the night save us from
I've never heard that before, but to be fair, it would bring pedophilia down to zero...
I do actually agree though, I don't really agree with it on a moral stand point, but I don't think people should be forced to behave on the grounds of what I consider to be moral behavior.
the simple way is to observe who gets it, and build out a strong network consisting mainly of the righteous people, who are capable of recognizing wrong and defending against it. going into the crowd of wrong-thinkers and wrong-doers to preach righteousness is suicide... imho. let them destroy or weaken each other first.
I think you asked the wrong question.
You should make a clear separation between the pimp business and "freestyle" entrepreneurship of an individual that choose to offer sex services.
The pimp is the exploiter and in some cases even the slave master.
Even then, asking if is legal is not the right question.
Studies indicate that everything that is legalized, especially in this type of activity, begins to suffer strong regulatory action from the state, which also imposes a series of obstructions (regulations) in addition to bureaucratic torment. Other studies also indicate that organized crime associated with prostitution, such as drug and human trafficking, are encouraged by state agents themselves who facilitate the activities of these offenders to "protect" them through extortion. I must have been ironic, but it is convenient for the State to act this way.
I thought the making it illegal is associated with higher incidents of trafficking....
When it's illegal, there's also far less safety for all parties involved. Places where it's legal have regular STI testing and all kinds of rules/regulations to protect the providers from violence or coercion.
I think it would also be much healthier for men in general if it were legal. Healthier nation. Not to mention, more tax revenue to states instead of to pimps. Win-win.
imo, sounds like you're conflating "legal" and "regulated"
I'm all for interested parties having ample access to testing and safety, but if you need a license then it's not "legal". for instance... having a child is "legal" because there's no need for a license.
I wonder if these "studies" take into account the impact of poverty on the higher levels of human trafficking. I suspect that as well as a general destruction of moral values are a larger factor.
For the betterment of society obviously.
Its still needs to be controlled and stopped but once it became legal women or shall i say girls of second or third world would all be trafficked and put up in brothels whether they like it or not. And I know its already being done at some level but the ratio is low, would increase drastically if & once it got legal.
Yes. Puritanical bullshit pushed by the church has forced it's version of morality to adults via laws. Your religion has nothing to do with what the fuck I want to do with my adult body. Human trafficking is horrific. That's a different aspect to this issue. It's definitely happening. Those people should be arrested and fined.
Sex work should be licensed. It's the OLDEST PROFESSION. You pass a health check (mental and physical) and register as a sex worker with a license. City Sex work taxes, State Sex work taxes and Federal sex work taxes. What do those taxes pay for? It should pay for testing and licensing sex workers. People are doing it. Make it safer and cleaner. Jail the traffickers. Send those sats/cowboy credits/etc. Not ETC. Ew.
you could easily argue that anyone has the right to sell their own body regardless.
I don't want anyone to sell their body. But I'm in favor of freedom of choice. If someone wants to sell it, then let them sell it in a legal way. However, I'll never buy it.
Who is this government?
A person, a living man, a group of people ?
Do you have any contract /agreement with him/them ?
How did you end up being captured by them?
The oldest profession has that name for a reason and it will outlast any other, why fight for it to remain in the shadows when it has driven more innovation throughout history than anything, save maybe warfare, and it is a major player in making sure crypto currency continues to thrive
Making prostitution, alcohol, drugs, gambling, and similar "vice" activities illegal is associated with black markets, increased violence, authoritarian governments, massive waste of resources, and complete failure.
It's been legal where I live for about 20 years, and it makes sense for it to be legal. It's going to happen anyway, whether it is legal or not.
I'm not really sure about the increased human trafficking. Would love to see those studies. It's usually retail and food outlets exploiting migrant workers. But I'm sure it exists in the sex industry.
Doesn't it?
I guess legalisation does enable it to be monitored and reduces the degree to which organised crime control it.
But on the other hand legalisation seems to accept or legitimise it.
Tough question overall imo.
