Kagi has been my full time search engine for over a year now. Results are consistently better than Google already IMO. I can’t remember the last time I searched using Google, perhaps for some kind of local result thing. Kagi is winning by being better, not simply being a “Google alternative”.
How is Rumble? Is it as bad as Gab and these other “conservative” alternatives? It’s always hard to switch services but I’m always looking to get away from google. Gmail will be the hardest to ditch.
Kagi is quite good. I always hated duck duck go, but used it to spite google. Found out about Kagi and now I’m all in.
Reminds me of Saifedean’s comments about people still investing in and holding the Lebanese Pound to this day because the think it’ll bounce back.

The worship of the state is an odd one. I have a friend who is one of these statist types and even something simple like a statement that the internet and it’s benefits are the result of private companies and entrepreneurs taking risk results is an argument that the internet couldn’t exist without the state. Frustrating.
There is nothing more communist than seizing the means of production (of money) so he might like that. But seriously congrats on reaching across the aisle. You are better than me at finding common ground with folks who are not aligned with yourself politically.
I am always surprised at how little people spend on food. As a family of four with two babies under 3, we spend about $300/week or $1200 a month on groceries.
Granted, I eat a lot of meat, but it’s cheap meat like ground beef from the supermarket. 2.99 per pound stuff. We don’t snack that much, don’t eat dessert, and don’t shop at top tier grocery stores like Whole Foods.
Granted, both adults work from home so it’s three meals a day at home, and we don’t price compare. We just buy what we want. I’ll have a ribeye once a week. I eat like 6-8 eggs for breakfast.
Anyway, this topic has always interested me because we seem to be at the higher end of grocery budgets but I certainly don’t feel like I’m eating luxurious cuisine.
I question surveys like this. How is “paycheck to paycheck” defined? Zero invested assets and zero savings? How were the questions worded? So much twisting of answers happens with surveys.
I really never thought about visualizing the mempool as an orange pulling tactic but it makes total sense.
I have heard this many times but I don’t understand the logic. Clothes is soft and compatible. Rolling vs folding shouldn’t matter because any excess space (air) is pushed out anyway. Doing an extra fold should have the same effect of any amount of rolling.
I believe this is an urban legend.
I watched your video today and am set up with Mutiny on iOS. Incredibly awesome wallet so far. I have no idea how the back end of channel management works but I was able to send and receive sats via lightning!
Most of the “good” ones are quite old and are about businesses or people who are no longer relevant in bitcoin today. Some are interesting to see as a moment in history. There are a few in the works, but nothing looks crazy good imo. Here’s the list of my favorites and some links to upcoming films. https://bitcoinfoqus.com/bitcoin-films-documentaries/
After looking at my list again, I think This Machine Greens is quite good but I wish it was longer and more in depth. You could do a whole two hours on the energy debate.
Learning how to build Wordpress websites. It took about two years and a few hundred dollars of educational materials but it turned out to be incredibly useful for building online businesses so I can work remotely. Plus, I have fallback skills that are useful.
Ok, sounds like I need to learn how lnurl works.
If the online receiving device does lnurl-withdrawal, how does the sender authorize withdrawal of the sats? Or is it pre-authorization and then it’s authorized or signed or whatever when the user next gets online?
Can someone please explain to me how offline payments with lightning works? I’ve seen two videos on Twitter, one with a card and one recently with a ring. Just wondering conceptually how something like that even works.
