"Exercise your logos. Run Bitcoin." Well said, it's so simple yet so profound.
Good read!
I tend to focus on what I can tangibly do for adoption: I talk to people about it and focus on answering their questions. Over the years I've been "orange pilling" all my closest friends and acquaintances and what I've noticed is that for most people it takes a long time to understand and grasp the necessity of bitcoin. Most don’t actually care about it in the moment.
This is ok, once the time comes that they become interested for whatever reason they know whom to turn to in order to ask the needed questions. What I do mean while is try and learn as much as possible and work out different ways of explaining bitcoin. Have a friend who likes golf? Give a golf analogy; have a friend who likes cars? Give a car analogy; have a friend who likes nature? Give an analogy from nature.
Adoption happens gradually but I believe exponentially as well. We bitcoiners have to lower our time preference and remember that everyone gets into bitcoin at the price they deserve. It’s a harsh truth. If we want to be altruistic we can all set aside a small Family/Friend stack that we allocate some of our hard stacked sats to and some time in the future donate from this stack to fiends and family when the time comes.
I have a birthday/wedding stack from which I give a gift to certain people once I feel the time is right.
Bitcoin is a marathon not a sprint although it sometimes might feel like it.
Stay humble and stack sats!
Welcome, enjoy the trip down the rabbit hole!
Valid point! However I have noticed that places that accept Bitcoin are fairly upfront about it; a Bitcoin sticker or symbol in an easy to see place usually. But I’ll start asking the employees to ask their superiors, at least worth a try!
I went to one of these places marked on the map next to where I live (Europe) and asked about paying with BTC. The guy had a blank stare on his face and said he’d never heard of it… I’m going to try a few other ones during the coming days and see how it goes. Great idea though!
Bitcoin fixing the world one line of code at a time!
Hey GigiDer, first of all thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion you have made a huge impact on my life! My question is in regard to the "conspiracy theory" that Bitcoin was created in a similar way that the Tor project came to be. People in positions of power realised that the current system is going to fall and they wanted to create an alternative which could grow organically for other individuals, companies and nations to eventually adopt freely over time. Hypothetically if the US created Bitcoin (of course it would be a small group of insiders only) and mined the first blocks (Satoshis bitcoin) then let it grow organically. Now when the world becomes hyperbitcoinised they can just come out and say: "Hey we have access to these keys", and thus would once again be the most powerful nation in the world. The world would once again be on a sound money standard and the global power structure would "stay the same". This is of course a very superficial summary of the main idea but I suppose you understand what I'm getting at. What is your opinion of this hypothesis?
Amazing stuff you've built here! I've always enjoyed trying out new things, especially technology related things, and I have to say this website is perhaps the most amazing proof of concept in my opinion for how lightning should and can work.
Just wanted to try out login with lightning, this is freaking amazing!
