If you had, say, 10 BTC in your bag, would you sell one this bull run to secure funds for four years of freedom from working for money?
reply
1 BTC = four years of freedom? How high do you think we're going this cycle? 😂
reply
If bitcoin 10x's from here, 1 dollar will equal 235 sats. I'm thinking global adoption and the fiat death spiral, will put corn at 50 sats for a dollar by 2033.
reply
I just paid 100k sats for an SN territory, it was worth every utxo.

Nix OS, i've recently just switched from windows. I'm a noob, but its a cool rabbit hole.
reply
Awesome, what do you like about it rather than something like Ubuntu?
reply
Nix is the only distro i've tried, I'm new to linux and thought the declarative and reproducible builds were interesting.
Editing the configuration.nix file to determine what is on the comp is pretty wild, i'm still trying to wrap my head around flakes. Theres some stuff i need to do with home manager and uploading a config to my github peaks my fancy.

7am labor contractions started. Went in around 2:45pm and they checked. Dialation started. We were told to go to the hospital. Wife kept laboring but had back labor. Idk what that means but the sounds she was making were primal. Was awesome. Eventually she tapped out and got an epidural to ease the pain. Maybe an hour or two later baby was basically right there. One half push and she was hear. We blame crossfit for the quick labor. Then we basically wete prisoners in a small hospital room for 24hrs due to "protocol". Came home last night and have been chillin and relaxing with family.

Congratulations! Amazing to hear! I’m also trying to re-transition to Bitcoin, I gave myself some runway last year to do so, but had to pause and mine some fiat.

Prior to 1913, most Americans owned clear, allodial title to property, free and clear of any liens or mortgages until the Federal Reserve Act (1913) "Hypothecated" all property within the federal United States to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, -in which the Trustees (stockholders) held legal title. The U.S. citizen (tenant, franchisee) was registered as a "beneficiary" of the trust via his/her birth certificate. In 1933, the federal United States hypothecated all of the present and future properties, assets and labor of their "subjects," the 14th Amendment U.S. citizen, to the Federal Reserve System. In return, the Federal Reserve System agreed to extend the federal United States corporation all the credit "money substitute" it needed. Like any other debtor, the federal United States government had to assign collateral and security to their creditors as a condition of the loan. Since the federal United States didn’t have any assets, they assigned the private property of their "economic slaves", the U.S. citizens as collateral against the unpayable federal debt. They also pledged the unincorporated federal territories, national parks forests, birth certificates, and nonprofit organizations, as collateral against the federal debt. All has already been transferred as payment to the international bankers. http://annavonreitz.com/bankruptcyofus.pdf

This is patently false. Property taxes were common in America well before the 20th century. Heck, Abraham Lincoln was a property tax attorney; one case he won was even about a lien on a boat.
reply
Look up allodial title in the constitution and what it means
reply
Your original assertion was that most land owners in American had allodial titles prior to 1913. You have asserted that without evidence. So, I provided evidence to the contrary, namely that American land owners did pay property taxes prior to 1913, which is impossible if they had allodial titles.
Where is your evidence that most Americans had allodial titles prior to 1913?
reply
It's in the constitution, as I said. American State citizens - Nationals have their land in allodium automatically per the United States of America Constitution. This doesn't apply to U.S. citizens, wich are incorporated circus monkeys, aka dead entities, property, slaves

Day N of zapping every day, til my wallet drains away.
Total zapped thus far: X sats

Ah my mistake, should be "Sats to spend today", I misinterpretted the goal of your experiment.
Would be cool if you could automate by adding a graph that plots zapped vs. time, maybe there's some oscillating pattern that would emerge if charted.
reply

You did but I think this running total is nevertheless a great idea! That would also make more sense since I can't tell in advance how many sats I will spend during a day.

Mhh, I think I'll be able to do this in retrospective, too.
Don't want to overthink this just yet. I just want to show up for now :)
reply
Do you plan to update periodically to show how it's going, as per @pillar and Operation Saylor? That would be badass.
In service of this idea, here's a renewed call to have SN report the amount of sats zapped each day, in the same notification that tells you how many sats you've earned. Would help with this accounting.
reply

How exactly do you mean? For now, I thought I would just post a comment like today which mentions how many sats I have to spend today. I could add a link to the comment of the previous day like @WeAreAllSatoshi does with his mining posts.
But I realized, I also get zapped during the day and I also need to spend these sats. So these wouldn't be included.
Maybe it makes more sense to just show how many sats I spent yesterday. I could also do a running total as mentioned by @orthwyrm here:
hmm, what about...

Yup, that's the kind of thing that I meant. Updates on how it's evolving. For a bonus, not just the raw numbers, but what you're noticing about the effects it has on you, others, SN at larger, etc.
reply
I see. Like a journal. I think the first effect will be that I will look how much work this would be tomorrow:

We do need to do that, but in the meantime if you can find yourself in top stackers, it should give you an idea of what's up.

I will always have been the 3rd highest zapper for that 24 hour period. There's nothing you can do about it.
Also, I think I have a bigger lead on you than what you've reported being in your wallet.
reply
Also, I think I have a bigger lead on you than what you've reported being in your wallet.
Mhh, I see. But do you know how many sats I received since I reported this? If you continue to zap me, there are more sats that I can spend to overtake you!
edit: Oh wait. These sats also count towards your spending score, lol. And I only receive 90% of these sats. Mhh.
edit: And I already need to be more cautious with how I zap since I already zapped like 50% of my wallet in the past few minutes. Need to zap content that will give me more likely sats back.
reply
Have you considered an exponential decay schedule for your zaps? You'll never run out that way, but it'll get you very close to spending down your entire wallet everyday.
I've lost my focus during the holidays.

Likewise. Enjoying the new share calculation? I was skeptical but don't mind. Such small hash amount and nowhere else to put it.

I like the consistency of the payments. But more importantly, I like the lowered withdrawal limits which seemed to be silently implemented.

I'm playing a new game on SN:
Spend all your sats in a day and then see how many sats you get back. If you don't get any sats back, you're out. The goal is to "stay alive" as many days as possible. So it's basically a survival game.
Maybe I am late to the party.

It is hard to give the damn things away sometimes.
I've noticed the same. I wonder if I should run a more principled experiment, like @ekzyis is doing here, and @Undisciplined has done?
The main barrier is the attention that it would require to do at enough scale to matter. But maybe that could be part of the experiment too? Hmm.
reply
I guess we could give reward sats back to the pool each day and live on daily zaps? Or limit the number of zaps you can make; morning balance divided by 10 say….
Why does scale matter?
reply
Why does scale matter?
Only because me zapping twice a day is likely to disappear into the void as an effect that anyone would notice on SN. In terms of keeping our heads above water, it wouldn't matter.
reply
My experiment is basically on autopilot. The only thing I do is set my default zap in the morning to 1/1000th of the balance in my SN wallet.
reply
Are you generally in the black from this methodology, still? I remember you saying that a couple of times you were making money. Still true?
reply
I'm hovering around 300 right now, but we've had several days in a row of content rewards which don't benefit me as much as zap rewards.
I don't recall exactly when I started and what that balance was (poor experimental design on my part), but I'm pretty sure I made almost all of my current balance over about 6 months.
I'm curious how these rapidly rising posting fees will play into it. If the rewards pool grows dramatically, I should start seeing more growth.
reply
Oh, I forgot about the freebie posts, lol.
I imagined the game rules to be like this:
If you don't have any more sats and you also don't get any more sats next day, you're out.
But using freebie posts makes this a lot easier. This might be easy mode. But people will see that I am a freebie now and thus might not zap me on purpose for extra difficulty. Or have mercy with me :)
reply
Cool idea!
It directly conflicts with my project of trying to locate the optimal default zap amount or else I'd join in. I'll be watching with interest.
Good luck!
reply
As part of this you could only use freebie posts (after 24hrs with zero sats) and you have to start it with;
‘I’m just a poor stacker, nobody loves me’
Maybe the first person to reply and zap ‘spare him his life from this monstrosity’ wins a limited edition single sat :D

Using links to subpages are a solution for this I guess.

I like the idea of mining bitcoin with renewable sources. There's something very satisfying about clean, basically free energy turning into sats.
reply
Even just having the optionality with energy is a big win. Large upfront investment but in a world where stocks are a poor place to park cash, whether you mine or not, it will basically be paying a perpetual tax-free dividend
reply
Agreed. But also beyond Bitcoin, ie in the developing world to remove some of the risks around using other fuels (ie solar charged battery lamps in place of paraffin).
I think I recall that WBD were going to investigate using a stranded solar farm for mining in the same town as their football team. (Although my conspiracy theory brain has me suspecting that solar farm was put in / earmarked to help remove infrastructure objections for a planning application currently in the works.)
