Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.

Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!

We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!

Today is an official work free day in my country, so I have time to document, and share more time with family.
I started to listen some podcasts at Fountain at morning (until I drunk it my coffee), and right now we will start to cleaning our house with my wife and kids (of course, kids making "small things"), and we all listening podcast (me, because I like it to learn...they because I listen...hehe)...

Btw...on yesterday's correction I bought some Bitcoin (satoshis of course, not a whole BTC).

Have a nice day all!

There is no one else here anymore right? Right?

isn't it a bit late to start with hibernation? and did you walk for eight hours?

edit: oh wow, didn't know that 🌌 existed. but it's hard to make out what it is

A kind Stacker donated me some sats so that I could level up my zapping practice (and qualify for more sats from the pool). So here are some quick reflections. Third day since I been playing with the sats

  1. Set my default zap to 168, because it means “prosper all the way” in Chinese. I think the most notable change is that it influences me to leave more elaborated responses. Somehow, zapping someone more sats prompts me to take his/her comment more seriously and make me want to engage more purposefully.
  2. On the first day, I donated 1688 sats to the reward pool but didn’t follow through the next two days because I rather zap Stackers directly
  3. You have to be patient when you play in the big leagues. The first day, I got back 850ish sats from the reward pool. The second day, I got back 740 sats. Today, my efforts borne fruit - 3741 sats from the pool.
  4. Decided to regretfully lower my zap to 108 today. 108 refers to the 108 heroes from a renowned Chinese novel “The Water Margin”. I’m half scared I would run out of sats tbh. But also, I find that 108 relieves some stress off me because I find myself replying to Stackers more promptly. I think I wanna spread the well wishes to as many Stackers as I can.
  5. Zapping someone 108 or 168 sats gives me more joy than the usual 50-60 sats I used to give. This is something unexpected. I think for me, it signifies the respect I accord to the Stackers for taking the time out to respond to my work.
  6. Hoping to increase my default zap to 168 sooner rather than later haha

Checking in on a lovely Thailand Monday morning.

Kicked the shit out of some bags this morning and nothing is falling off, yet, which is a relief after a month of being injured.

It just happened to be the podcast in my queue when I decided to start playing around with the clipping tool. There's really nothing special about that clip.

Ah Sunday. A day of rest. I’ll try to do some of that!

reply

Happy Sunday everyone. I came here first before annoying everyone with a beta post for what could be a minor thing. I tried to transfer some sats this morning out of my ln wallet. It's been pending for an hour and a half. Usually my transactions succeed or fail right away. Has anyone had this issue?

reply

Thanks for reporting siggy! This happened to 4 others before you and none of them reported it. It was caused by a very small thing that we would've continued to overlook.

reply

Damn. It was early in the morning and my old fingers made two typos in a short post. I'm glad to help out.

reply

I haven't gotten my sats yet.

reply

we are talking the same, withdraw out of SN wallet right?

reply

Yes. I just found out they were working in withdraw code. That might explain it.

reply

That's relieving then! I feel strange that it's still pending in the wallet even after the invoice is deleted.

reply

We shipped a fix which will prevent this from happening in the future and fixes any undeleted withdrawals that appear stuck, but it doesn't reverse invoices that are deleted.

If you still have the bolt11 I can manually fix it (and also prevent deletion of pending invoices for future incidents).

reply

We really only need the invoice hash to fix this. Because yours confirmed, we only need to refund you the difference in fees.

Happy Sunday everyone!! Recharging for the coming week is a must, think I'll make some burgers and watch an NFL game, open up a brewsky and just relax, but first, gotta do all the things I need to do, help around the house, laundry, clean the patio, it seems a lot but once it's a habit it's rather easy peasy. Get the hard things done first then the rest will be as smooth as a shaved jaw. First things, first, I wish you all an incredible Sunday may your coffee be strong and tasty and your day be productive and filled with passion, love and joy, you're one amazing human being and never forget that, what you do matters and you're important, head always high, we've got this!! Be well and stay frosty my good friend!!

Felt sad last night - keep hearing more and more old masters are dying, and some crafts would even die with them. It's really humbling when you know people spent 40 or 50 years focusing on doing ONE thing and working on what they enjoy till the day they die, and yet you see so many youngs already talking about retirement...

I feel the last generation's masters are already 50+ yr, so have about 30-40 years to learn those crafts from them, and then I keep thinking what will happen for the future generations? using everything machine-made? don't even know how to make things with their own bare hand but keep buying BS?

reply

You are the teacher of the next generation, Natalia.

reply

I'm still a student myself - trying to absorb as much as I can, before it's too late. 👀

reply

Sure, but regarding masters of the crafts you describe, who will carry on the traditions? I'm not saying you're ready now, but you will be at some point. As I get older I realize that my family traditions were passed to me by people who are all gone. These traditions won't make it to the next generation without me passing them down.

reply

some young Turks ( but not many) are still learning them, but the reality is that many crafts will die down soon. e.g. did you ever see a spoon made out of horns and bones? 👀 I'm amazed by it!

I will travel a bit to visit some old craftsmen in the East of Anatolia to see what I can do, and the main reason why not many people are learning them is because of not making much money right, let's see what Bitcoin power will do.

Awesome and such a beautiful haiku.

(Is the last line a 5 syllable? - apologies if it is as my English isn’t great)

reply

How would you read the last line? I read it as 5 syllables:

tir-ed smiles en-sue

I think an interesting thing about writing haikus is that I discover not everyone pronounces words the same way I do. And it’s humbling haha

reply

You are an educator so I very much stand in your shadow.

I read it as;
‘tired smiles en-sue’
