LEGAL: Somebody wrote some words on some pieces of paper to tell you what you can or can't do, and also wrote down that you owe them if you do something they said you can't do.
FREE: No words on no pieces of paper telling you to do, or not do, anything.
WHY IS THIS STILL NOT CLEAR?

fellows, please tell me, if you're in conversation with someone new, what's something they could say that would convince you they're too normal
reply
define "too normal"
reply
hmm kinda hard, but I should certainly define it, let's see it's like when you take in some piece of how they construct either their personality or their worldview, and you have a deep well of opinion/experience to unleash about it but you know they can't take it in
reply
but then I think you can learn something from different people, even from really normal ones, like I have no problem hanging out even with village people, they got great life skills:)
I do get what you mean.
reply
So you are defining cognitive dissonance... right.
reply
cognitive dissonance would apply as a term in what I'm describing, but I'm referring to a moment in conversation and social introduction
reply
you'd probably know what I mean if you ever talk to people in person
reply
  • they say "what do u think about Iran?" or any other current controversial program.
  • being fixated on the housing and rental markets.
  • being excited about mainstream media culture, in a negative or positive way, does not matter.
  • talking about Apple Vision Pro or any other latest glamorous consumer tech

Back when I was app-dating, I'd browse my competition's profiles. For the life of me, I couldn't understand why most of them declared themselves "feminists." Feminism had always meant equality of opportunity to me, so I was like "duh," but boy did I miss the memo of what it meant to some people.

It feels so nice around people actually coming up with tools or solutions to solve real problems instead of just complaining or going with the flow.
reply
Unless you are complaining, too. You can then complain together, which is not bad either ;)

complaining might be the last thing I want to do - not only is it not solving any problem, but a waste of time. 👀

That’s why I usually don’t complain either, not now, but I am preparing myself for retirement 😂

Hey @k00b, there's this guy who keeps posting weird / irrelevant stuff on ~mostly_harmless w/ freebie accounts to the extent that it seems like a purposeful "attack", albeit the world's dumbest attack. It has forced me to turn on moderation to keep the SNR high. How many freebies do people actually get?
reply
I think you get a freebie if you’re at 0 sats, so basically infinite if they just empty their wallet, or am I wrong?
reply
Yes, this is bad for SN. Instead of making hard to post shit, is making it easy for hoards of shitcoiners to throw shit. This slowly will convert SN into another shithole like reddit.
reply
This slowly will convert SN into another shithole like reddit.
Was thinking the exact same thing. Paying a few sats stops spammers cold.
reply
reply
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe stackers can now have unlimited freebies, but freebie posts/comments aren't seen by everyone until they get zapped - limited to those with greeter mode enabled.
This didn't use to be the case. Stackers used to have a limited amount of freebies (2, IIRC?).
It also looks like you can disallow freebies in your territory. Not that you necessarily want to do that, but it appears to be an option.
I just happened to see this question so decided to chime in. I am in no way an expert.
reply
Maybe we should remove free posts all together but keep free comments.
reply
I like this idea.
reply
Or make it so that if someone posts / comments something on a freebie that gets outlawed, it removes freebie-posting for exponentially-increasing amounts of time?
reply
Doesn't stop throwaway accounts.
reply
Well, you gave me more than I had -- thanks!
Now I need to wrestle with whether to disable freebies. This is why we can't have nice things :(

Hey y'all, i'm currently learning on how to craft Onchain tx as efficient as possible while still getting my transaction confirmed (preferably in <10 minutes).
I concluded that :
  1. Personally, P2TR address is the best address to use.
  2. Knowing the exact tx size before deciding feerate matters a lot.
  3. If i know the exact size, i can guess the best feerate by looking at several previously confirmed block.
  4. For several reasons, i can't avoid small UTXOs.
  5. Having as many inputs as possible per tx is better (as long as i can postpone Onchain spending)
I think i got the basics right, but some advanced questions like :
  • Does transaction fee counted as output ?
  • How does Onchain wallet determine the destination address type for change output ? (Specifically on Blixt, Zeus, Samourai & Green)
  • What is the biggest amount of input or output possible in a single transaction ?
I can't seem to find answer anywhere and would be thankful to have my questions answered by others here. Suggestions (not LN) are also appreciated

Knowing the efficiency of government bureaucrats, probably nothing for a few years. Eventually they would catch up with me or my descendants. I don't really mind giving them back their depreciating fiat.
reply
I don't really mind giving them back their depreciating fiat.
Wrong. They don't give a shit about that meaningless amount of fiat you are giving away. They can print endless fiat, remember? Taxes are NOT to make them rich or build the roads, is about TO ENSLAVE YOU. Is about sending a message, is about showing them who is the sovereign one. They get away with this lie and theft because people are scared, lazy and think like that "ah it is what it is..." And this is how the putrid system is getting away, over and over enslaving more and more, because NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE...
reply
That's true. They don't need my paper. They can make more. Family members need my support in this flawed system for now. In a few years I may be able to make some changes. George Carlin was a genius.
reply
You will remember my words, when they will force you to use CBDC...
Compliance to a slavery system and complacency into keep using this system is what will put more and more chains on your slavery, until will be too late.
All this complacency leads to total tyranny. Like boiling frogs, slowly. And I wonder how you "helped your family" when in fact you pushed them into total tyranny.
