reply
What was the problem? That's why I never made it. :)
reply
Something about @anon having too high of a trust score.
That meant people who zapped differently than anon or people who weren't getting zapped by anon, were being penalized in the rankings.
reply
I didnt know about that. I always noticed the top three spots being taken by hidden people. I suspect I know who they were, but I will never know for sure. haha

I don't know anything about this system, but what you say makes sense. Thank you

I have a fantasy of allowing stackers to export all their site history in a single file that's viewable, self-hostable, and interactive in a browser. The goal would be for folks to not have to trust that I'll eventually turn SN into a protocol, or that I'll work on SN and keep it available until I die.

might use @saloon to share some funny stories. 👀
went to a money museum the other day, the owner spent about 30 years collecting money from different places; then I asked where Bitcoin is ( I mean why not? 👀 ) and he said he doesn't believe it, as it was not guaranteed.
Then I asked him what's money, and he didn't answer; I guess even a money collector don't know what's money.

Love this! Must visit…

He has had a bit of a job collecting all this! Had he followed any kind of system to organise the coins or were just placed in jars randomly?
reply
I think it's random - I read a bit of those blue files, filled with money from different countries.
It would be really cool if someone do something extra, explaining what's money with how and why money was even invented, and showing all the past money - shells, rocks - gold - fiat money ( his collection ) - Bitcoin.
reply
that collection looks amazing tho....but I just love any assortment of jars
reply
it's quite cool indeed, and money from different times tells you a lot about those leaders - some use their own face, and some use whatever they like. 👀

The coins are the most annoying ones, so heavy and worth so little, they end up being unspendable eventually - maybe that's why he decided to have this museum, earning money with those unspendable. 😂

was sitting to have my ice cream alone when some Syrian women with kids, about four of them, just came and sat at my table while there were so many empty tables, and they didn't say anything to me, not even a hello, and then the kids kept staring at me, now I see why some young ladies told me that they left this area because of the stare, it's indeed uncomfortable, and isn't quite rude? Then I left to sit at another table, they just took my table like that...
It ruined my mood a bit, and the heat was getting unbearable; then I accidentally met a hair brush craftsman and talked a bit; he even gifted two of the hairbrushes that he made to me and invited me for dinner and told his story, the society crushed him yet he is still being so kind to strangers, instead of thinking like a victim and everyone owns you.
reply
I am a migrant and I have been living in Peru for 7 years... and at first it was difficult for me to fit in... not so much because of the language because Spanish is spoken just like in my native country Venezuela... but because their customs are very different... and the society here is quite sexist and proud... to get a job I was helped by an old Peruvian woman who decided to help me since she was also a migrant in the 90s when Peru was experiencing a strong social and political crisis and she lived for 5 years in Venezuela... Have ppl around the world like this! I experienced many kindnesses when I was nomading around, but also had quite some strange ones; and what I'm trying to say is everyone is trying to figure out their life, if you can lead a helping hand, great; if not, at least don't be mean to others, it's not going to help with anything, yet many ppl balme their own issues into others.
reply
That's totally true... it's better to help... it will make you grow as a person.

Be always restless, unsatisfied, unconforming. Whenever a habit becomes convenient, smash it. The greatest sin of all is satisfaction. –Nikos Kazantzakis, The Saviors of God (1927)
Kazantzakis is suggesting to have always a dynamic approach to life. By remaining restless and unsatisfied, one continually seeks growth and improvement. The moment you feel content with your life, realize that you are not truly living. Comfort exists not in living, but in dying. Many seek solace in death, not in living.
That's how I understand this quote and I'm inclined to agree with Kazantzakis.
What do you think Stackers?

Parens Patriae:
Parens patriae is Latin for "parent of the nation". In “colour of law” it refers to the “public policy power” of the “state” to intervene against an abusive or negligent “parent”, legal guardian, or informal caretaker, and to act as the “parent” of any child, individual or animal who is in need of protection.
Note: notice the wording here; “parent of the nation” or “parent of one’s country” or “father of the people” means “common law authority”.
Therefore Parens Patriae means the “common law authority” of the Attorney General to represent the interests of those who are unable to represent themselves.
Because you are unable to “represent” yourself, you have now lost your authority and are under the authority of someone else.
reply
Doctrine of Parens patriae makes sure that the voiceless, abandoned and disabled people are ultimately the responsibility of the State and the State must take all the steps to ensure their well-being as they are not in a position to do so.
These times, the family courts and other judiciary bodies have the authority to assign the custody of destitutes to welfare homes run by state, to look after their food, clothing, shelter and health.
For example, vagabonds who are rounded up and produced by police before the courts are put in destitute homes by court orders. Similarly family courts order the custody of children unwanted by divorced parents to Child care centers run by state.
reply
We are all "abandoned" at "birth"
reply
question, let's say I have a unregistered baby. The baby needs shots, the doctor says he cannot administer shots unless she is registered with a birth certificate. pay him under the table? Go to the Indians on reservations to help?
reply
then you find medical care and pay for it, a docktor is not there to help you
reply
when you say medical care, I distinctly think it's the same as a doctor. Healthcare, hospital and medic really sound the same.
reply
a docktor is there to contract with your person (contract an illness), to keep you indebted and sick. operates in commerce under admiralty law a medic is what you mean
reply
A medic would be under the same such laws
