I have not been able to use my attached wallet (NWC through Alby Hub) since 6:46 am est this morning. I noticed that the time roughly coincides with an Alby Hub update. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

FYI, I tried repeatedly to restore my NWC connections all day. I succeeded about a half hour ago, and everything is working fine. I don't whether the problem was with my node or Alby hub.

I think it was a combination of the Alby relay disconnecting us and that SN not properly reconnecting, see #802889
Thanks for showing the logs

Wallets should really start to use multiple relays
And we should start to support multiple relays 👀
we will in the next release via NDK and all its quirks

Would it be possible to allow users to set up 2 attached wallets so we can have a backup if one is failing?
reply
33 sats \ 0 replies \ @ek 9 Dec
Yes! We added sender fallbacks last release and we will probably deploy receiver fallbacks this week.
But there will still be the limitation that you can only attach each wallet once but attaching multiple NWC wallets for example is also planned.

This would be great!

Really? I was wondering about that. Seems obvious as relays go down like all single point web services.

I sent @Alby a message to make sure. I am only aware that cashu.me uses multiple NWC relays.

@Alby only uses one relay

Their own? I wonder how much redundancy they have on that one relay? Seems like a big mistake to me... But I haven't done Nostr or Lightning dev so what do I know.

Minibits uses three default I believe. You can add more.

Better you also link a alternate with your account, to protect it by losing it.

I tried transitioning to desktop hub, sorry but not willing to spend $33 to open channel, and now getalby extension wallet is showing 0 and nan balance?
reply

Hi, you can go to the node page -> channels and click "Open Channel" then click advanced. Look for LNServer_Wave which is a cheaper LSP.
Or you can disconnect from getalby.com/node and then move your sats elsewhere if you would not like to switch to a self-custodial wallet.

Hey, we just logged in here, @siggy47.
Did you figure what was the issue, does it work for you now?
PS dedicated channel for support from our team is at https://getalby.com/help
Thanks!

I think it might be that the Alby hub app isn't updated on Umbrel App store? Is that possible?

I just zapped this with an alby hub external wallet connected and it seems to have worked.

How do you zap from external wallet versus SN wallet? I don’t see an option when zapping.
reply
0 sats \ 9 replies \ @WeAreAllSatoshi 9 Dec
You must configure a sending wallet here.
reply

I did. However, when I zap, the zaps come out of my SN wallet instead of my attached wallet.

I think the custodial wallet takes priority over connected wallets, as long as your custodial balance has enough to pay for the action you’re performing

I just zapped you and my SN wallet balance went down accordingly. Hmm.

Did you zap more than your SN wallet balance?

Just another data point
IIRC alby hub updates need to be “accepted” when running in their managed cloud, which I haven’t done today, so maybe I’m still using an old version and therefore my datapoint isn’t useful

Yes they are. I was out on the road. Now I'm home. The update just seems to have messed up the connection. @DarthCoin's suggestion seems to have worked.

Did you manually update? v1.11.2 was just released on github, but that does not mean your hub was immediately updated. But the update should not have broken old connections.

maybe you just have to refresh the NWC, did you tried to generate a new NWC and use that?

You were right. The connection got messed up by the update. It's all fine now. There was no need to set up a new connection. Thanks.

That's my next move. I was first double checking to see if it was an SN problem.

Actually, it does not seem to be working. I didn't realize my SN wallet is now getting funded. I may need to make a new connection.

I am now in the process of setting up new connections, but they are timing out. I'll send a wallet log screenshot.
Any suggestions, @Alby?

I think you can configure a custom relay like wss://relay.primal.net in the settings but not sure, I don't use Alby Hub
reply
43 sats \ 7 replies \ @DarthCoin 9 Dec
Yeah it could be also a relay issue. I saw lately many relays resetting the connection or simply not connecting.
@siggy47 did you checked with Alby Go the connection with your Alby Hub? is the simplest way to diagnose where is the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion. Alby Go connection is broken also.
reply
43 sats \ 5 replies \ @DarthCoin 9 Dec
There we go... it must be something with your Alby Hub then or the connection with their relays for NWC.
I've checked mine, updated to latest version and works just fine.
I just zapped your comment from an Alby Hub NWC with Alby Go.

looks more that your node funding source cannot create the invoice, but the connection is OK.
Did you checked your node logs? Maybe the LN graph is not well synced.

110 sats \ 1 reply \ @rolznz 10 Dec
Hmm, to me this looks like the connection to the relay was dropping and not re-connecting properly, and from the log requests were published when the relay was not connected, and also it was waiting for a response after a relay disconnection. is this possible? @ek
reply
10 sats \ 0 replies \ @ek 10 Dec
That could definitely be the case. We will switch to use NDK soon, hopefully that handles relay connections better.
