Proof of work day, year, 5years….
Today is the day! Yes, it’s Saint Patrick’s Day, but it’s the 5 year anniversary of working remote due to Covid and me running outside everyday at least a 5k (5.5 mile average). A great day with sunlight and fresh air here. Sometimes you can turn a negative into a huge positive!
Oh and the got into Bitcoin during this time. Class of spring 2021!

Announcement for portuguese speakers on SN!
Os Guias DarthCoin agora estão traduzidos para o português.

yeah I think is even more than spanish speakers in numbers.
reply
reply
If I’m not mistaken, Spanish has about twice as many speakers as Portuguese.

Learning and creating brings more joy than consuming.
Or worst, one lacks the skill even to create anything; if I got a kid, then I would teach them cooking, swimming, and languages so that they can find any information they want instead of relying on AI to tell them what to do.

I can't believe it took me so many years actually to learn cooking, and the freedom to make anything you want to eat is amazing.
And finally no longer need to wait for takeaway or think going where to eat, and it's so much healthier!
reply
It's amazing to see people making their own yogurt and bread. Then you taste it, and wow, it tastes so much better!
And the funny part is it's not even that hard to make; the only hard part, perhaps, is having the time and patience.

That's part of the reason why the nomad lifestyle is unsustainable; I can't tell you how much you craved home-cooked food after a few years of traveling, hence a home base is one of the solutions:)

I heard this celebration started in the U.S., not Ireland—while Halloween actually started in Ireland, not the U.S. Is that true?

Saint Patrick's Day, also known as Lá Fhéile Pádraig in Irish, is celebrated annually on March 17th. It commemorates the death of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, who is credited with bringing Christianity to the island.
Major cities with Irish populations host large parades. Boston held its first parade in 1737, followed by New York City in 1762
In Ireland, it was initially a solemn religious day, it became a national holiday in 1903. In recent decades, it has been promoted as a tourist event.

What about Halloween?

Samhain, a Celtic festival dating back over 3,000 years, is considered one of the roots of Halloween. During Samhain, the Celts celebrated the end of summer and the beginning of winter, believing that on this night the boundary between the world of the living and the dead narrowed, allowing good and evil spirits to cross between both worlds.
Over time, the Christian Church established All Saints' Day on November 1st, and the eve of this feast became Halloween, or All Hallows' Eve.
